Hello My Friends,
I am going 'arty' with my canal theme today!
I was walking along the canal and turned back to look at the bridge under which we had just come.
This is the view I had!
I just loved the way the light was playing with the water and the vegetation, and how it created that intense darkness by its absence!
This doesn't tell you a lot about the canal, but it does tell you a lot about the beauty that can be found in such places.
For more information about the canal please click here.
Many thanks for stopping by.
I hope you enjoyed it.
Please feel free to offer feedback on any aspect of the photograph.

Intéressante utilisation d'un cadre dans le cadre.

This is a very effective composition - out of the darkness into the light! Those leaves at the top left and at the bottom define the foreground neatly, and the line of the towpath leads us under the bridge into the sunlight with the well defined building, more greenery and reflections beyond.
The frame is just right.

I too like the way the light gives life and depth to your shot. The foreground acentuates the curve of the arch and balances the composition perfectly. So often a glance over the shoulder reveals a splendid offering.

un coin paisible, des détails dans l'eau, les ondulations et les refflets; un beau contraste entre l'ombre et la lumière , aucun noir total; un cadrage hamonieux. que dire de plus, ce cliché est vraiment beau....

very good capture of the great light and the shadows indeed. The bushes are beautiful too. A composition that turned out very well!
Have a nice evening.

Excellent framing, in fact a "frame in the frame", great composition and fabulous light managment! Beautiful photo, congratulations!

Wonderful warm light finds its way through the lovely old canal bridge arch which gathers a striking reflection and lovely relaxing shadows. Love the vivid sping time greens.

very beautiful shot. I really like that arc as the natural framing. You managed the exposure very well since there is a strong light contrast in the scene but everything is perfectly done. Great job indeed!

I like the way you have used the bridge as a frame, and it wants me to jump in and find out what's around the corner.

Hello Bev, I always enjoy a good 'dark to light' shot, and the bridges and buildings along the canals provide excellent opportunities - as you have demonstrated here. Not easy conditions, but you have managed the contrast skillfully, without being afraid of letting plenty of shadow still remain. A lesson to us all in not forgetting that the best shots may be behind us!
Very best wishes....Maggie

Bonito el canal con la luz al final del mismo.
El agua y el verde de las plantas hacen una buena fotografia.
