Turnberry Bay Photo

Photographer’s Note

Turnberry Lighthouse marks a dangerous part of the Ayrshire coast, off which lies Bristo Rock which was responsible for many wrecks.

The Lighthouse was designed by Engineers David and Thomas Stevenson. They examined the rock and reported on 18 May 1869 that it was inadvisable to erect a lighthouse on the rock itself, but suggested that the best place would be on Turnberry Point, where it now stands.

It is situated close to the 9th hole of Turnberry Golf Course in what was once the moat of Turnberry Castle, which disputes with Lochmaben the honour of being the birthplace of Robert Bruce (1274 -1329).

Hi Piotr,

What a beautiful lighthouse shot you offer us.
The composition is very well balanced with the rock in foreground, the lighthouse, the clouds in the two corner.
The colors of the sunset are very nice and the exposure is well managed.

This is very good Piotr. Composition is perfect. And light too. And you know that light is always what matters. I love your WB choices. That late blue/magenta settings are great here and set a good mood to the scene. The dots of yellow are priceless. Congrats.
