Photographer’s Note
And now for something a bit different....
This is the same bridge as my last post, the 'Forth Road Bridge'. I arrived at this bridge a while before I wanted to as I live about a 30 minute drive away and I didn't know how bad the traffic would be, plus I would hate to miss my blue hour (which didn't really turn out that good as it was very cloudy!) I was driving around to find a good point of view of the bridge as I had lots of time. As I was taking pictures I met two other photographers who were up from england for the week. As we were chatting one of them spotted the boats under the bridge and the way the sun was coming through the clouds. We all ran round to this spot and this is the result!
I haven't really changed the colours you see here. The light under the cloud was very orange!
I hope you like the result and feel free to tell me what you think!

Hi Blair,
Great to see this, I crossed the bridge last Saturday. :-) Excellent photo, those boats are a wonderful inclusion and the light conditions were really nice here. Good composition.
I was thinking of taking the bus to Queensferry yesterday to get some photos of the two bridges, but it was too rainy. :-(
Thanks for sharing this photo!
Regards,
Lars

Hey Blair,
A great shot, love the way you "extracted" a portion of the bridge, and didn`t care if you leave out the rest. I always have such issues in photos. By doing what you did, you focused your attention to the other elements, like the boats and so on. The conditions were very nice for taking photos, and you utilized that greatly.
Nicely done, best regards.

Hi Blair.
I like the shot in this way,I like the golden colours in the clouds over the bridge and the orange ones under it as if it was illuminating the sails. The bridge is very good placed, and it shows a lot of details, very dificult with insufficient light,I can see even..a seagull in the distance?o_o
Very good composed Blair.
Have a good day :)

Hi Blair,
Well well, seems you really improving your work when i look back to the first ones and now this. Not only on the subject, but also in light and composition the images become better and better. Those red sails look wonderful on the warm shining water. Great shot in composition and colour...i like it despite the fact the part above the bridge is a bit over-exposed.

Hello Blair,
I like the framing here, not the usual bridge image but this works well with me!
A well balanced composition with stunning colours, I notice some fine details like the sailboats to add life...

Hi Blair
That's a nice moment and the sun managed to get throught the clouds to deliver some nice warm tones. It's sharp thanks to your focusing distance but on such shots you might want to close a little bit more, always keeping in mind the magic formula: speed > 1 / (focal length * 1.6).
Have a nice day jY

Hi Blair,
I thought at first this was in San Francisco ... wonderfully captured. The sailboats gave the scene some scale of dimension. Good image and color quality. Well composed! tfs

Blair,
the composition is simply great! The placement of the bridge and the pillar is exactly where it should be and the colors of the water as well as the sky gives a soft, pastel framing. The little sails provide the right contrast to the scene.
You might have done some sharpening as a last step. Otherwise it is perfect!

Hi Blair,
The warm evening light gives a very peaceful atmosphere to this compo. I love the details of the small boats and also the gull flying over the bridge. However there's a slight overall lack of neatness and I guess it's due to the fact that you took this at f/5.0. You could have used a higher f-number to get a better depth of field.
Have a nice day.

Hi Blair,
this is wonderful! The clouds, the sky, the colorful boats and the evening sun are wonderful. I especially love the bird above the bridge. Incredible that you didn't need to do any processing. Great shot!
Thanks,

Hello Blair,
The soft pastels and lovely light beaming through the clouds make for a soothing and tranquil image. I love the sail boats under the bridge also giving good scale to the bridge. Overall a nice image but the element which completes it although it is very small is the bird.
