Photographer’s Note

Turnberry Lighthouse marks a dangerous part of the Ayrshire coast, off which lies Bristo Rock which was responsible for many wrecks.

The Lighthouse was designed by Engineers David and Thomas Stevenson. They examined the rock and reported on 18 May 1869 that it was inadvisable to erect a lighthouse on the rock itself, but suggested that the best place would be on Turnberry Point, where it now stands.

It is situated close to the 9th hole of Turnberry Golf Course in what was once the moat of Turnberry Castle, which disputes with Lochmaben the honour of being the birthplace of Robert Bruce (1274 -1329).

Hello Piotr,

Nice subject, nice warm light, good exposure, reflection in foreground and main subject in background: at the final you produce a beautiful picture.
Only minor defect is the effect of the wide angle which pushes behind the lighthouse due to the point of view from bottom to top. But unless you have the TS-E 24L from canon to shift the view when shooting, you can do nothing. Moreover you put the lighthouse in the middle line what is limiting the optical effect.

I think you have got away with the position of the lighthouse and i like it a lot, but im sure it could do with some a little extra, im not sure what though........maybe a slightly different composition?

Lovely shot of this light, the reflection is a nice touch and the clouds and sky color cap it nicely. Well seen and captured.

Good shot with this very nice lighthouse refleting in the water. The light on foot of the lighthouse is very nice and the framing is very well done. Very interesting note too, that's something I like when browsing on TE.

Excellent shot! I think the composition is perfectly balanced with that wonderful reflection of the lighthouse. Lovely lighting which you exposed for right on the button. Razor sharp focusing tops off a wonderful image. Well done!

Piotr: As I looked at the photos in your collection I am convinced your work is heavily under-rated. I love lighthouses so I was drawn to this photo of yours with good colors, composition and point of view. The reflection in the foreground is a nice touch.
