[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the Undercliff Walk that goes from Brighton to the village of Saltdean. It's about 5 miles.
I was here taking pictures of the waves hitting the walls of the walk. Normally you see many people walking with the kids or pets and cyclists. But not this day... the sea was really brave. The gravel that you see on the ground is brought by the sea waves and they jump above the walls. Then, surprisingly, I see these two old ladies coming from Saltdean (1.5 miles) on foot. I asked them:
-You are not afraid of the wave splashes?
The right one said:
-Well, it's much easier trough here that have to go up the road. My legs are not young like yours.
(Saltdean is about sea level and the road is above the cliffs that you see here).
- And you never get wave showers?
- Yes, of course. But today we here lucky.
- But what do you do if you get wet?
- Nothing, we just laught... It's fun. My sister lives in Saltdean and I live in Rottingdean (here) and we dry up at home. We are used to it.

I was stuned with their good energy. Maybe they were just making fun of me.

The waves hit the wall and go back but sometimes they go over it. I once got a splash while ridding my bicycle on the way to work. It's like if someone trowed a bucket of water on you.

Hi David,

That looks like a wet walk you could have there!!
A funny story as well and looking at the photograph they were surely lucky to make this walk without getting wet.
Thanks for sharing this one! Funny posting with a good note!!

Greetings, Dennis

nice composition and perfect shooting
well done

Brave old ladies enjoying age! Great shot David. With the waves hiiting the walls and the ladies seem to rush away (though it is a normal feature for them as per the conversation, some more of the sea would have added to the picture. I really like the cloudy effect of the hitting waves.

An amazing scene..

Hello David,I like your commentary on this shot.
The waves are dramatic; I think that without the two ladies, this would probably not have looked as effective.
It is a very good composition with the cliffs standing so tall and the ladies providing us with an idea of scale.
Tfs, regards Jean.

David,

Paulo
