Hi Romana,
I think this is a good example of an unconventional composition that works really well.
The colours are wonderful, particularly the heather in the foreground, and the low clouds and dappled sunlight on the distant hills are very attractive. Definition and sharpness are superb and I also like the slightly panoramic format.
The slightly unusual part in my opinion is the way the road cuts in from the side of the picture rather than intersecting with the bottom or the corner of the frame. I think this is actually very effective as it provides an unobtrusive lead line that cuts in only after your eye has had the chance to take in the spread of foreground heather and without disrupting the bottom line of the picture. I find the overall effect very elegant and harmonious while the road leading into the distance conveys a nice sense of space and depth.
Very nicely done!
John

Ta hra barev, tam za kopcem dává tušit vzrušující podívané.Opravdu rád bych tam byl,...a po téhle cestě bych se tam měl dostat.Rafinovaná fotka, tak to chápu...
Zdravím a přeji hezký den,

Hi Romana
You have some beautiful subtle colours here with an interesting overcast sky. Very well seen.

Hello, Romana.

This is how I think of Scotland: when I was a child and we lived in England, we used to come north to Scotland every year on holiday. I remember the lovely deep reds of the heather on the hills at the roadside - just like this! We used to pick pieces of heather and stick them into the radiator grille on the front of the car - they would stay there for months after we returned home!

I'm not quite sure where this was taken - the road must be quite high because there are "snow poles" beside the road - poles set out at the edges of the road so that you can still find the road when it is covered in snow in the winter.

Just like yourself, I like the way the road is at the edge of the picture - my eye is led down the road to the distance and I am focusing on that little white van or bus far off, taking in the distant hills and looking at the patches of sunlight on the fields down below.

This is a lovely photograph and brings back lots of nice thoughts of my childhood visits up here to Scotland.

Thank you, Romana!

Kindest regards,

John.
