Photographer’s Note
After seeing others photos of the British Museum, I was really kicking myself in the butt for not visiting it during my trip to London in 2003.
Thankfully the opportunity came around again this month.
The main Foyer is the architectural highlight of the British Museum, thanks to a renovation in 2000. A vacant space surrounding the 'reading room' was covered by a glass ceiling, making it the largest covered square in Europe and saw it renamed as "Queen Elizabeth II Great Court".
I hope you like the shot!

Cheers,
- Dan
PP Work: In Photoshop CS3; I corrected the keystoning using lens distortion, cropped the image, converted to B&W, adjusted levels, resized, sharpened, added frame.

Salut Dan..
Super n&b
J'aime le contraste entre le neuf et l'ancien..Le POV est génial, ces courbes du sol et du plafond..Le personnage est petit mais je trouve que c'est bien cela permet de ne pas s'attarder sur lui... le décor est si beau..

An interior which needs that so called "veeeeery wide angle" lens in order to give that awesome feeling...
From the bottom to the dome, you got the best fragment to present all the marbles, classical columns and the glass-steel covering. And the ant figure crushed by the environ, is absolutely an essence in that place. And your B&W selection is very nice for celebrating the light/dark contrast.
Is it the lens or the architecture that makes the dome look a little bit blurry, i couldn't know.
Into my theme for sure...
Cheers,
Deniz

Hi Dan,
although there are thousands of shots of the British Museum on te by many members, myself included, it is still a joy to see others. It really is one of the best places to visit, especially when the light is right. Like the angle and the presence of the single person.

Hi Dan,
I like the composition and the excellent use of these curves. The lonely person at the end of the main curve gives a lot of perspective to your picture.

What an underrated start Dan, i think i'll submit it to the competition of most underrated BW ;) I know you don't care ...
As i went to london too recently, i had a look in gallery and found a lot of pictures of that place, i think those of Norbert are the best one but yours is really excellent too.
The little bonus is this dark man walking far from your cam.
Excellent

Having the person in the shot adds life and scale to this piece of architecture. I like the B&W presentation.

What a beautiful shot! Very nice light and perfect composition. It makes me realize that the art in photography is the composition the photographer does on every picture he takes.
Congratulations and thanks.
Rico.

Hello Dan,
Sounds like a definite place to check out if I ever make my way to London...
The mix of glass and various stones here, both with straight and curved lines makes this a really well put together composition. Part of me though wonders what this would look like with the right hand side wall also cropped out, so we get a more definitive end with the stairs/stair rail, which is where my eye is drawn to at the very end, as it also interferes with the pattern of the ceiling to me. Like how you've spotted the person right between the two "black holes" of windows, just perfect timing!

Hi Dan,
Very well conceived and presented architectural marvel here. I am impressed the the variety of interest - curves, converging lines, diagonals, and the triangle checkered roof surface. Excellent image contrasts and the details are impressive. Great work and TFS. Gerald

Excellent shot Dan! The choice of black & white is good, as it emphasizes the shapes and lines. I like the positioning too, because you can see the curve of the walkway being matched by the curves in the roof. Having that one person in the frame is great too, because it shows scale and context. Nice work!
