It has been very wild and windy in Northern England today. Gale force winds have swept across the area creating very dangerous driving conditions but, thankfully, are subsiding!
Today I am posting another shot of a farm on the edge of the moorland between Lancashire and Yorkshire. These farms have their own distinct beauty. In winter they can be lonely and isolated but never desolate!
This field is empty but spring is beckoning and it will have cows in it in a few weeks time. As yet, the animals are inside because of the possible severity of the weather and the difficulty of driving them in for milking when the daylight is short!

A very nice one, this. A fabulous sky and, as usual for you, razor-sharp detail in that farmhouse and the trees in the mid-distance. Excellent!
Like Lancashire, Lanarkshire has had foul weather of late. Sometimes there's no option but to trawl through the archives and find some pictures there for posting: at least this one was taken at almost exactly the right day of the year even though it's from four years ago!
Again, as is your wont, you have given us an excellent note.

your photo is wonderful. It is picturesque and very retrospective to me. Just to tell you, I was once there and really exciting in photographing British landscape. This is a nice one; arresting sky , undulating land with the wall as a splitter, and its buliding. All are very sharp and clear images. What I love most is the shapes and lines of the naked trees. To show its best you put the photo into one-third of the whole to indicate a well thought in balancing the photo.

Gentle pastoral scene of the lovely farm on the slightly sloping hillside. The clearing sky is leaving a mist over the distant hillsaide. The who scene seems to be patientely wating on the spring rains that will have this valley teeming with life before long.

This is a well composed and lovely landscape with the hill-top nicely positioned in the frame. Although the old house and line of leaf-less trees is the focal point in the image, the dominant sky area balances the entire photo. I like the pastel tones in the landscape, contrasted by the bright blue of the sky. It certainly looks like the dry land is waiting patiently for the coming rain.....then this location can show is true beauty, full of life and greenery. Very well done.

Excellent minimalist compo and spring atmosphere--the green field, the undecided sky, the lonely house among those trees that have not yet their leaves...

I really hope that Spring is around the corner! The slope of this image provides a strong diagonal and it's great to see this mass of cloud under such a lovely blue. I would have zoomed in a bit more, but I'm glad you didn't as I like the effect of the lonely farm. The image is nice and sharp which good natural colours. Nice one.

Beautiful minimalistic landscape Bev. Very Pennines.I like the low horizon and the diagonal dry stone wall.

Marvellous shot, Bev.
Simple and stark, but the diagonal of the slope, the stone wall, and the outlines of the bare trees, make it very successful. The gathering cloud tops it off superbly. Your proportions seem just right, and the sharpness is excellent. The scene looks like one that could have been taken (albeit in b/w) a hundred years ago; it has a timeless quality. Very nicely done.

this is such a nice shot. I love the diagonal line of the hill and the shot is so beautifully divided and balanced. Lovely light and color and that sky is simply awesome. Really well composed, too, with the house in a perfect spot. This really is wonderful! Many thanks and kindest wishes,

I like this rural landscape very well composed with the large part of sky, simple but very effective!
