This image is beautiful, Brendan, and I
wish you stick more often with classic
forms of composition and framing (unlike
it's the case with many of your recent
posts).
Classic is not boring, just helps you
convey your subject and vision better.
Hope you don't mind me pointing that out.

Great - I like photojournalistic B & W shots. This fits the bill very nicely.....

Hi Brendan,
well done, straight in the eyes...each expression different, good chosen pov, makes the looker feel like he is standing there too! Love these pieces of daily life.

I like it. But wouldn't mind changing a thing or two. :) First, I think I would have pushed the contrast and the vignetting a little further. I feel an absence of shadows here and that bugs me. Then I would have waited for the cropped person in the right to completely vanish the frame allowing the main subject to go up a bit in the frame. The rest is perfect. I want to see a tube project from you. ;)

Hi Brendan, amazing the nerve you have to take this shot, I never would have the guts to raise my camera up to people so close in such a situation. :) I've always wanted to try such a shot in this kind of situation, as I think the movement of people coming up towards you is such a great opportunity to even take a series of shots and allow the escalator to do all the moving for you to change position, etc. The four sets of eyes lasered in on you is the best part of this scene for me.

hello Brendan,
I liked what you said to Robi, that you just see something and shoot. That is the essence of street photography surely? In a split second the brain has processed the possibility of a good shot...and bingo...you have one! So I like this for that. Simple but strong. Interesting faces and expressions. A typical tube scene, a moment gone but not now forgotten. Compositionally, the diagonal line sof the roof and the escaltor handrail converge to lead the eye into the picture.

I don't know, Brendan. To me they all seem to be telling the same story, which is, "Why the hell is that bloke pointing that big m-f-ing lens at me? Is he a cop? A terrorist? A nut?" Yeah, this kind of shot takes some guts, for sure. Of course, they're going up and you're going down. You've got a buffer if they decide they don't want you to have that photo. I like the effect, though I'm not sure about the black and white conversion. Seems a bit flat, perhaps. But a nod to your bravado. What we call her "chutzpah." Best, -Hugh

Hi Brendan,
Strong, very strong. And in a sense classic. Have to agree in that sense with Robi. And a funny comment of Hugh. I'm also wondering what must have gone through the minds of those people watching you. But then again the 24-105 is not as big as Hugh is thinking ;-). Nice one!
Greetings,
Dennis

super cool stuff, those 3 gazes are funny, would have been nice with the three of them only, but well it's a subway station right...
hi Brendan,
Great b&w pp. Looks that people do not really like to be photographed here ( but i think this is true on the occidental countries) do you had sometimes somes problems with "subject" in UK ?
well done
