Simple and strong composition with a great idea : the fence plays the role of a frontier between shadows in the foreground and light in the background.
Yes, no more choice, have to walk through. Very well done !

Good morning Geof!
What a wonderful light! One nearly can't believe the "date taken". This picture reminds of a painting of an old master. A very beautiful, atmospheric and somehow touching scenery. "Great" would be the wrong word here ...
Greetings from Germany with snow and rain at the same time ;-(

Hello Geoff
Gates open or otherwise can be interpreted in numerous ways..can study the psychological orientation of people from the way they want to photograph gates..( im not kidding :)
interesting to see a composition with gates as a subject...i use to paint open gates when i was in my teens..Overall a good concept and well presented
Cheers

Hello Geof,
A very nice composition of this peaceful scene, that could be part of a Constable painting. I like the point of view over the gate and the framing from the trees. Some nice light and shadow contrasts. Very pleasing unsaturated colours and lighting.
