The view from the top of the London Eye by evening. I thought the capsule shown on the right of the photograph looked quite futuristic, hence the name "Space Age".
Unfortunately the photo has come out quite grainy, which seems to be the case with many night time/ low light shots I take with my Canon ultra compact camera (even using the high ISO setting). If anyone has any tips on how to get a better finish please let me know. Thanks! |

hi James,
the shot does have a lot of digital noise, precisely because of the high ISO setting - the higher the ISO, the more noise you get (particularly with ultra compact cameras). the solution could be lower ISO, but longer shutter speed, which in turn would require tripod or other way to steady the camera to avoid blurr caused bt camera shake. you can also try removing the noise in postproduction - NeatImage does wonders in some cases (if you don't mind, I could try a Workshop a bit later).
I quite like the composition - the capsule in the foreground emphasizes the feeling of distance. in an ideal world the capsule should not be cut off, but I appreciate that it could've been difficult to implement.
best,
Kristine
Hi James
I think this image just deeds a bit more contrast adding so as to deepen the blacks and increase the colour hue.
The composition is ok.
