Photographer's Note

Caledonian Canal runs for 60 miles along the Great Glen from Corpoch near Fort Wiiliam in the South West to Inverness in the North East.22 miles are man-made;38 miles are natural loch, namely;Loch Lochy,Loch Oich, the famous Loch Ness and Loch Dochfour.Thomas Telford and William Jessop worked together on the project as they did on several others.Thomas Telfort was greatest engineer of his day and built many of the structures that now taken for granted, from roads and railways to the Caledonian Canal which was the first form of public transport and took nearly 20 years to build when works began in 1803.Once finished the Caledonian Canal provided the long hoped-for route between eastern and western Scotland. There are many ways to see and enjoy the Caledonian Canal.
A further easily accesible location for the canal is at Muirtown locks,on the western side of Inverness.
Son derece güzel havada gemi ile 2 saatlik keyifli ve manzaralı Ness gölü yolculuğu sonrası kanal ağzına vardık, kanal kapaklarının açılması ve önümüzde bekleyen yatların geçmesi için yarım saat bekledik.Bekleme sırasında gemi halatlarını bağlayan -çözen görevlinin tartan giysili oluşu güzel bir ayrıntıydı
