Photographer’s Note
Hello everyone! I haven't had many opportunities to get out with my camera lately with one thing and another, day to day life just keeps getting in the way!
I managed to stop off at Tees Barage on the way home from dropping my parents off at the airport and got a few good photos. Lighting was best before the sun came above the horizon as the sky was cloudy and just turned to grey later. With so little light I had to use long exposures though. Hope you like it :o)
The Tees Barrage, designed to retain a constant water level and provide vehicular access from the A66 and A19, is a catalyst for the regeneration of Teesdale, 100ha of derelict land along the River Tees close to Stockton town centre. The scheme used the permanent water level created by the barrage as a focus for waterside development along new canals, a stream, lake and the riverside. The project involved master-planning and detailed design of the barrage, a navigation lock, a fish path, canoe slalom course, warm-up lake and caravan and camping site.

Hi Paul
What a dynamic blue hour shot. Your low pov accentuating the details of the chain and pavement is superb. Furthermore the starry lights add so much atmosphere and stand out well against the dark blue sky. The curves add depth too.

Hi Paul,
very impressive nightshot. I love the golden tones and the attractive foreground subject. The strong perspective produced by your lens works really fine in here. I also like the contrast beatween the lower part with the cool and dark blue sky. Well done!

Wonderful shot Paul; I love the way you have got down so low the chain is huge in comparison to the rest of the details. In fact it's so low it looks like the camera was on the ground; no need for a tripod. ;D. I like the way the f20 has created the stars around the light. good work

Hi Paul
Fantastic blue hour shot. I love the starry effects of the lights, skilfully produced thanks to the small aperture. And the chain is a lovely foreground subject with all its curves. Excellent compo and dof - shame that there is some noise in the sky, but it's nevertheless very successful as a shot.

Hi Paul,
This for me is one of your best ever! I love the colors you've captured during the blue hour. The sweeping line of the bricks and the chain are fantastic foreground subjects made more spectacular by how low you've taken your POV. The light on the chain could not provide better modeling. The lights of the building really add "pizazz" as well with the starburst effect. I think this would make a fabulous print.
Cheers!
