The Monument to the Fire of London, more commonly known as The Monument, is a 61-metre (202-foot) tall stone Roman doric column in the City of London, near to the northern end of London Bridge. It is located at the junction of Monument Street and Fish Street Hill, 61-metre (202 feet) from where the Great Fire of London started in 1666. Monument tube station is named after The Monument.
It is possible to reach the top of the monument by climbing up the narrow winding staircase of 311 steps. (from Wikipedia)

HI guy,
Excellent shot, a real stair-twister! The subtil blur adds to the vertigo impression. Technically, it is completely mastered.
It reminds me also a plan in Hitchcock movie Psycho, when the camera is travelling back in a spiral from the very center of the eye of the dead woman to a wonderful portrait of her face dead lying on the floor.
Nothing more to say, that's what your picture made me think of.
Hope you enjoy the comparison, and that you've seen the movie!
Cheers
Thomas

its blurry but i dont mind, though i think it could use a bit more contrast.

but i think the photo could really use a person(or two) on those stairs, without someone marching down the scene feels a little stale.

Hello Guy,

A fabulous shot of the logarithmic spiral. Actiually, the bannister appears like a spearate spiral that converges with that of the stairs. The informative note complements the image nicely, making this a good TE package.

Wrm regards,

Bulent

Hi Guy!!

Fantastic visual effect in B&W. Congrat.

Thanks.

Guy,
Interesting spiral shot. Many imperfections, technically, although these to nothing to reduce the impact of the shot - as others have said - rather, in this instance, it somewhat adds "mood" - a sort of timeless feel to this spiral through time.
Regards
Colin

Hej Guy,
Very well seen and captured, this view down the winding staircase. It gives a wonderful effect. I like your choice for B&W. The blur suits the feeling of vertigo in this photo well. Good work!

Lars
