Photographer’s Note
I was lucky enough to be in the Lake District at the weekend. It wasn't a photography trip but I did manage to get a few shots while I was there. This is a shot from Kirkstone Pass, looking in the direction of lake Windermere.
The Kirkstone Pass road, as described by Wordsworth, easily lives up to its poetic image. At 1489 feet (454 metres), it is the highest road pass in the Lake District. Consequently, it provides stunning views over the Lakeland fells and Brothers Water, a small lake at the foot of the pass. The name of the pass comes from a large boulder nearby that resembles a little church (kirk). Wordsworth wrote about it in Kirkstone Pass:
--and yon, whose church-like frame
Gives to this savage Pass its name.
Aspiring Road! that lov'st to hide
Thy daring in a vapoury bourn . . .

Hola Paul, muy bonito el paso que nos muestras en esta fotografía con buenos colores y un cielo aunque nublado, muy hermoso. Muy buena la nota. Saludos desde España.

Hello Paul
With excepts from a few gifted individuals I'm sure that most parts of the Norwegian population don't even know there excists high places like this in England or even the entire GB!
This, however, shatters that impression.
The view looks spectacular. Very lonely place, but a place I woulden't hesitate a moment to enjoy.
Quality looks great, full focus on the foreground creates the point of interest and really brings the viewer right into the location.
Excellent work.

I didn't know about the name Paul and it's a change to see some Wordsworth quoted that is not "Daffodils". You compose your landscapes like your seascapes. Those rocks make a good fg; they lead us to the next level, then the road leads us on again. Excellent POV with these layered sections of scenery.

Very good one, Paul - vertical compo and
centred focus helps build the depth, together
with the clouds.
Good heavily saturated colours due to the
polariser and a dull day.
Nice change in subject!

hi Paul,
I have always enjoyed the composition of your "portrait" style shots, namely some interesting subject in the immediate foreground and leading off to wide open space. This image is no exception. The image really forces you to take a close look at the rocks and the grass before you attempt to survey the scenery.
nice shot,
B
