Photographer’s Note

This building in the old market square of Oakham is called the buttercross. It's just in fornt of the famous 17thC school, seen on the left, I think it's a lot older, but the only web reference to it says (obviously wrongly) that it's 'nearly 100 years old'. There's also 4 people in it, hiding in the shadows, you can just see the arm of th 4th.

Tech: To answer Gal question the other day, (sorry I forgot), grey scale, the back RGB to get the sepia by adjusting colour balance.

Very charming texture on the roofs repetited with a fine contrast,Your Pov is very good,the sky is not flat & I like it,it help to made a better tones in top.
Also I like the simplicity which I see in this shot, it caused that this pic be great.And composition for this B&W(soft sepia) very well controlled,

je suppose donc que tu place cette photo dans le scav hunt (4 personnes) ! J'admire surtout l'excellent cadrage qui permet de voir parfaitement ce vieux marché mais aussi la rue et l'école. Cela ajoute une perspective très bien positionnée. Très bien vu Richard !

Hello Richard. This is a nicely rendered shot of the buttercross, which I found in reviewing your wonderful portfolio and seeing the shot featured on TE today. The soft sepia/B&W rendering is very effective. I do long distance walking in Britain most years and began the 240 mile Macmillan Way from this buttercross several years ago. (The footpath is now extended to Boston, but still passes through Oakham, a charming town.) The figures in the scene further enhance. Well seen and presented. Best regards.
