Rua Reidh Lighthouse, is situated on a remote peninsula on the West Coast of Sutherland at the entrance to Loch Ewe in the Northwest Scottish Highlands.
Engineers David and Charles Stevenson, cousins of Robert Lewis Stevenson, built the lighthouse in 1910. It became fully automated in 1986 and is run by the Northern Lighthouse Board. There are spectacular views of the Isle of Skye and the Western Isles from across the seas of the Minch.
If you are brave enough to traverse the final three miles of the road to the lighthouse, you will be rewarded with spectacular views, a variety of animal and plant life, and the obligatory roaming sheep. Dolphins, seals and otters are quite frequently seen from the shores of the lighthouse as well.

A beautiful sunset! Lovely composition, wonderful colours on the grass and in the sky and great detail. I particularly like the rays of sun and the warm colour of the rock where the sunshine is lighting it!

Beautiful capture! The subject is a classic and your composition including the foreground rocks and using the clouds to lead us to the lighthouse is exceptional. Using the stacked grad filters turned out great.

Excellent lighting and mood as always in your photos. I like the unearthy atmospheres around "your" lighthouses, they gather a personality in your photos. This romantic one, waiting for the sea and sunset, looks rather drown in the glory of loneliness. Magic share. Thanks,

Spectacular shot! The lighting is great, with the clouds lit up well, and the sun still on those foreground rocks. The positioning of the lighthouse is great too, making this a well balanced photo, as the sun on the other side of the frame gives a good dynamic between the two. Well done! I can't believe that rude comment you got - seems like a very strange person trying to get a reaction, because it really doesn't make any sense to me. I hope you don't let it bother you, but you should probably report the guy to the admins, because there is no place for that kind of behaviour here.

Hi Stephen, Lovely shot. I like the composition and the lighting in the foreground coupled with the sunsetting sky is great.
If you think the final three miles of this road are bad give Ardnamurchan a go...26 miles of single track road and at 40 - 70 mph(:-o) in order to get there and get the ferry back to Glencoe it's a recipe for extreme discomfort!

I'm sorry, but I'm brave enought to tell you this looks like a scene out of Hee-Man- give us some reality please. i'm an ass, this is an amazing shot. My envy got the better of me plus other stresses; but indeed a photo like this is to prize upon and relax. I now noticed how intricate the colors, how diverse the shades of light, how plentiful the dephs and detailed the textures are; it reminds me of one of the posters you get that have like an expressional word with it, like "Patience"; yeah, I was totally offbase with your photography.
