Photographer’s Note

This is a castle on place where man has shaped the earth to make it even more defensive. It sits nearly upon an island.

But when I wander through a place like this, I wonder what it was like being here when it was at its peak. Mary Queen of Scots was hosted here - was that a great expense to accomodate her? The quarters are fairly close - how intimate were the top brass with the infantry? My ancestors have known about this castle - how many generations back and were they connected to it in any way. Curriosity is breading mystery! No doubt when I am older, the boundaries of life & death, generations, future and past will fustrate me as I, and those I love, are mortals. I see we are getting off the topic here of Dunnottar Castle, so I'll leave it at that with this image for now.
