Photographer’s Note

Taken along a Loch while walking from Fort William to Inverness in Scotland. I liked the snow on the mountains in the back. The water was really clear in the lochs too. Scotland is a very beautiful country indeed.

Hi Steven, a good shot with the deep shadows by the boat and the sunlight on the water. Well spotted, it is a good composition especially with the mountains in the b/g.

Hello, Steven.

This is wonderful. Very clear and sharp and well-exposed - only some of the clouds look a little "blown out" and over-exposed but the rest is really good - even those deep shadows around the boat. The colours are amazing and I love the foreground where you can see the sun reflected off the sand by the ripples of the water above.

I thought you had used an ultra-wide-angle lens for this but no, you've done very well indeed getting this fantastic wide-angle effect with 18mm focal length on your D40.
