one of the draw backs of living so close to the river usually this river (the esk) meander`s pecaefully through the village of ruswarp before meeting the sea at whitby,, but after the torrential we have had it burst its banks and rose about 2.5mtrs flooding this cottage.
like many places in the country the flood waters are starting to subside and the clean up work can start but with more severe rain forcast for the weekend it might happen again

Hi Adrian

Nature is always awesome, and a wonder to behold. Less so though I'm sure if it's your house or cottage that is flooded! This image captures well the scale of the flood. Were you on a boat or the other bank?

Helo Adrian
Mate i see you came back in full power and weater was not so greath by you .
I hope only it wasn,t biger acidents.
Mate i go now in second shift and i send you a mail later.
Cheers,Braca

Adrian,

What a great and tragic photo. It is a shame that the cottage was damaged of course and hopefully there were no injuries. From a photo stand point the shot is clear and colorful and definately show the power of a river at flood.

Hello Adrian,

Every day we can read in newspapers about the floot in England, nature is always awesome, water wind and fire, the three nature element where the peoples can not against do!
You took a very lovely image almost a reporting picture, very well done.

Have a nice weekend,
John.

Hi Adrian, a real shame but, as Greg said, hopefully no injuries. I work in the insurance profession and this is where we earn our crust - people pay premiums and when this happens, we try to get their lives back to normal as quickly as possible. Great shot and note. Regards, Paul

I had no idea the floods were so close to home. I have a shot somewhere from this same POV in happier times and can see the difference. I hope they didn't have too much damage.

Hi Adrian, Unbelievable, an amazing shot, English weather at it's worst, maybe something we all might have to get use to in future years, great POV right in the heart of the action & as close as you could get I would imagine, TFS reality, kind regards Wilson.

Hi Adrian. The flooding even made our evening news here. Hope you are all over it now. Great documentary photo. You have caught the power of the water well. Good work and thanks for sharing.
Cheers. Paul.

Hi Adrian,
Very nice capture of nature's unpleasant side. This is a familar scene to me living on the banks of a river that explodes every spring when winter's ice melts. The flood warters are framed beautifully by the lush green wood and the traditional homes.
Regards, Tom

Hi Adrian,
You certainly have captured the moment here Ade, the cottages look so small against the floods waters, you should have sent this to the news room for Bob Johnston, because he never gets the weather forecast right, but on this occasion he did,
Regards Irene
PS Ade I am sorry i haven't been on TE for a wile but I've been decorating the house but i am nearly finished now just one more room to do then i can pay a bit more attention to been on my computer and TE site.
