[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
The mute swan is a very large white waterbird. It has a long S-shaped neck, and an orange bill with black at the base of it. Flies with its neck extended and regular slow wingbeats. The population in the UK has increased recently, perhaps due to better protection of this species. The problem of lead poisoning on lowland rivers has also largely been solved by a ban on the sale of lead fishing weights. Some birds stay in their territories all year, while others move short distances and form winter flocks. In cold weather, some birds arrive from Europe into eastern & small areas in the west of England, The reason for me putting this photo on TE is that this is Walney nature reserve & the swan is a big part of this reserve, this one & it's partner have been nesting & they were chasing the geese all over this pond, I missed that shot to my regret however I hope you like this one.

Bonjour Wilson,
Très bon timing pour cette photo pleine d'action, on sent tout l'effort de l'oiseau pour s'envoler.
C'est très bien vu et réalisé!!

Hello Wilson,

Excellent action shot of the mute swan. The image might be slightly "over sharpened" (if it is photoshop that you are using). There is another function, that you can highlight the swan at this juncture, and click on the "grow" function under "select" in the menu. This will get rid of the white spots on the edges, created by the oversharpening. Informative note as usual.
Have a restful, rejuvenating Sunday,
Bulent

Hello Wilson,
You pressed the shutter at the very right moment and the attitude of the swan is incredibly beautiful. A pity that the focus is not very good and well on the bird. But these are extremly difficult shots and you already managed to have a nice one.
Have a nice sunday.
Best regards, Christian

great timing. I hope I can get a shot like this one day. Wonderful cropping and great focus. I say perfect!

HI Wilson,

A difficult and wonderful capture .. it is one of those images where the negatives (the sharpening .. the tilt of the shore etc.. contrast .. and whatever anybody else can think to mention .. ) .. the negatives are just completely overwhelmed by the positive of this moment .. the sheer grace and beauty .. a gem in time.. thank you so much for posting it up ..

take care,

John

Hi Wilson,
An excellent capture of this swan taking off from the water, and with a great definition that allows us to see all the details of its feathers and the water drops. The effect of the movement gives a very dynamic touch to the photo, which in addition has a good lighting and a few perfect colors.
A great shot.
Best regards,
Josep

What perfect timing. I have read the comments about over-sharpening and have to agree, but the light is wonderful on the wings and you can always go back to the original and use less sharpening.
KAth

HI wilson!
Very good captured moment, and strong light and colors,I like the details of the movement capturead and the effect of speed the composition gives!

Hi Wilson,
Indeed we had the same idea, another beautiful picture of this swan, here it takes its take-off and it is very beautiful.
Very good framing for this beautiful shot..!
Best regards,
Patrick

Hi Wilson
This has been so well captured. I always admire nature photographers, as you need to be so quick. Superbly framed too with the swan fly into the shot. Very nice work.
Best wishes
Mark

merhaba dear wilson
wonderful composition and swan.well done.

Hi Wilson,
A great action shot you have captured here, well done. The detail is great.
Cheers,
Debbie

Hi Wilson,
you really got it in the right moment. The take off just outside the water. The composition is excellent for this one and the movement pretty good visible. Congratulations.
Lieben Gruss, Ulf

Hi Wilson. Nice shot of the flying swan. A three dimensional geometry. The two wings and the elongated neck almost parallel to the surface of water. Good perspective. Regards.
Partha

... and off it goes. Very nice action wildlife shot, Wilson. I like to see the water line in front of the swan. It gives the idea of a runway. I have the impression that you might have overdone in the sharpening process. Certain parts looks unnaturally crisp.

Hello Wilson,
Nice shot, although the swan was faster than the 1/320 exposure time. (:
The composition is great.
I think it's a bit oversharpened, so I tried to correct it a bit in a ws, hope you don't mind!
TFS!
Best wishes,
Marci

Hello wilson,
excellent the fishing of this swan in the lake. You captured him in a great moment.A shot with vivid colours and lights.Perfect timing for this shot, with a lot of details and a marvellous informative note.Well done.

Hi, Wilson. Your shot shows all the power of the swan chasing its rival on the water. The tight framing enhances this impression. Movement is suggested by the open wings and the wake left by the goose in front and the swan behind. An excellent shot.

Bonjour Wilson,

Best regards.

Hi Wilson,

A good capture of the take off of the swannm the photo has a good composition, sharpness and nice colors. Thanks for sharing.

Pierre

Hi Wilson,

This is a good attempt at capturing what is a difficult subject. You can feel movement in the shot through the swans dynamic appearance and the splashing water. The photo is unfortunately over-sharpened around the swan and it looks a little sloped.

It's hard to get your camera set for a 'spur of the moment' shot like this but a wider aperture and even possibly moving to iso400 could have helped.

Hi Wilson. Well timed take off of this swan. Good cropping and clarity. Simple part of nature well captured through your lens. TFS. Murray.
