I saw this character at London's theater district. He was an excellent musician really. When I took this photo he was doing a marvelous rendition of "Colonel Bogey" (march tune of the movie "Bridge on the River Kwai"). I liked the way that this colorful individual was playing against an almost black background. No photoshop required for the background here.

Hi Stan,

This is a one-of-a-kind character, brilliantly shot. We can see all the instruments he’s playing and we can only admire the creativity... Good tight framing.

Like you are mentioning, this is a very colourful individual and we can only imagine what goes on in his head; certainly not a conformist.

Well done!

André

Hello Stan -

This is a well seen composition and is executed with outstanding technical skill. I think this is a winner. Well done!

I just noticed he is playing a valve trombone an instrument that is rarely seen.

Thank you for sharing

John

Hi Stan,
Great example of street photography with this cool character. I like the tight composition, and you are right that there is no need for PP. Very well done. You have some excellent images in your gallery by the way; hope to visit more often.

Hakan

Very unigue image, Stan
It's not just an ordinary scene in daily life. It show this musician in an artistic way.
Very special charactor.

Hi Stan,
Great capture . Maybe very familiar scene for London but you have captured it very good. A jewel within the entries of today !

Stan: could be a great cover for a Londoner's travel guide. fine image for a slide scan (?). Perhaps remove some of the shadow intensity in CS2 if possible. regards, c

A good shot of this busker, Stan. I like how you took it face-on to the side of his cart, and he stands out superbly from the dark background. My only criticism is that you chopped his elbow off, but I don't think it matters too much.
I like it.

Cheers,
Ben

Well you were lucky with the background. i assumed, until I read your note, that you have used pp. You have captured a great English eccentric character. The sort that used to be part of theatre-land but are hard to find these days, I suspect. I nice and sharp and well framed, except, I don't quite like the elbow missing from the frame. It gives it an incomplete feel. If it's a crop, I would re-crop it to include the elbow. Regards Kevin

Hello Stan
Just sound is missing here.
Well done for lights management, I like the dark foreground.
Cheers.

Nicely framed Stan - quite a character and not one I've had the pleasure to bump into yet - don't see so many one man bands these days - a simple but effective street shot with, as you say, a blessed background.

Great photo. The background and lighting are perfect.

Hello Stan,

Very nice anecdotic capture!
Nice lighting, excellent contrast.
In France, we call this "Homme Orchestre"(Ochestra man)
