Really great shot Andy. The colouring is fantastic and the detail and sharpness really good. Excellent use of DOF. Very well done!

Welcome to TE Andy, the composition of the shot is realy good, colour to are very nicley balanced , but it lacks depth of focus/Field (DOF)the only bit in focus is the edge of the unopened flower the back ground is perfect for this style of shot. (did you try and zoom-in in macro mode?) I find that you need to just leave the voom buttom alone and get as close as you can manually with an aperture of F8 (in aperture priority) depends on how close you are and how much you want to throw the background out of focus,

Very good composition. The colors are very rich though it is a bit lacking in sharpness. Nonetheless, this picture is certainly a good one.
