Salut Mark,
Le cadrage serré fait ressortir les traits de la façades et les statues à merveille.
Après avoir examiné les ws, je pense que le crop est tout à fait justifié. Le traitement sur les couleurs offre quelque chose de plus contrasté. C'est un traitement réussi et intéressant.

A nicely balanced composition with the two niched statues diagonally opposite each other and the two windows similarly. The tones and textures are very well represented. All in all, very good work.

Bravo pour cet essai que je trouve très concluant. Ce que j'aime c'est que tu as réussi à trouver le PP qui permette de donner une très belle ambiance. Cela colle parfaitement avec cette architecture. En plus, tu as toujours une très bonne qualité donc pour moi c'est mission accomplie.

Pour être honnête :

1) j'aime BEAUCOUP le POV
2) Je trouve que le contraste et la saturation sont OVER...too much contrast and saturation, is not the work...

Photoshop est un excellent outil mais il ne faut pas en abuser de sorte à enjoliver, à elducolorer les images au-delà du soupçon du naturel...surtout quand il s'agit des photos s'inscrivant dans le principe de la réalité. Il en va autrement pour les "rêves, impressions etc", pour moi, mais là, je trouve que les couleurs frappent trop fort ici pour apprécier à juste titre la beauté de la représentation et la qualité de ta photo.

Two points for the POV...but not for over-contraste work...

I don't even know what cross processing is so you won't get the advice you are looking for from me. Actually I prefer the original uncropped version as a composition. The symmetry of it I find more satisfying. Sorry but I also prefer the golden stones of the stonework. As you know I am colour freak, but am "reluctantly" looking at more and more B&W and finding I like them. Don't you think this would be a perfect candidate for B&W conversion?
Now I'm off to look up CP to see what it is.

C'est super d'avoir mis les autres photos en WS. Pour le PP j'aime beaucoup ce traitement, pour le crop, j'aurais sans doute été un peu plus haut au dessus de la statut de gauche, mais le résultat est superbe.

Tout d'abord, un grand merci pour les deux versions Anglais/Français, c'est très gentil de ta part.
Quant au post traitement, j'ai tendance à considérer le photographe comme un peintre, il y a ceux qui veulent conserver ce qu'ils voient sans retouche, sans afféterie ; d'autres, préférant créer par moments une vision différente selon leur sentiment. Pour ma part, je suis pour la créativité sans déformer le sujet principal qui ne nous appartient pas.
En clair, j'aime les deux formules (je ne suis pas Normand, quoique), elles possèdent chacune leur charme. Ici, ma préférence se porterait sur la publication présentée.

The crop is very nice here for this detail of the facade, although I have to say, the symmetry of the original is lovely too.
I doubt a bit about the colours. I like them here, but I think I prefer the original colours more.
I find this a very nice and interesting experiment. Well done!

je vois que tu fais comme moi et j'approuve ta démarche puisque je fait pareil, mais ici je suis vachement dans l'embarras, car je trouve l'original super avec cette couleur dorée, le traitement donne en fait une autre image complétement différente, et pour être franc je préfére l'original, mais par contre ta technique donne tout de même un bon résultat aprés c'est une question de gout, dans les deux cas la netteté est restée nickel.

so from my very limited experience ..
I like this crop far better .. when I saw the original .. it is almost to symmetrical .. the first thing that popped into my head was that it was a door knocker : )

The color I am less sure of .. I think it looks more artificial to me now than it did at first glance .. but now I am tainted by your note and viewing the original. .. I like what the color does above the lower statue and below the top statue .. I am less fond of the bricks to the left of the lower statue .. hmm ... can't decide ..

really interesting .. and I do like it a great deal.

Hello Mark.
I am the wrong person to give advice about Photoshop because I don't care much for post processing...I do need it to convert my shots to B&W though. Here I like the crop very much, but I like the colors in the original. The colors here are a little unatural, but not over the top. The original composition is also very nice due to the perfect symmetry. All in all a good shot with great clarity.

Hi, Mark. Like Kath, I also prefer the WS version, mainly for its colours. I think the PP you've done here enhances the dirty aspect of the statues. As far as composition is concerned, I quite like the diagonal lines linking windows and statues. And sorry, I can't help you at all with CP, since I don't know how it works.

Like Kath, I prefer the original golden tones: however, I like the symmetry of the srop. I complement your on your bravery and helpfulness in posting the stages of development of this CP technique. I am also ignorant of the tschnique but your WS gave me some idea of what to look for as I went to view Xavshot's work. Although I don't read French, I guess that the red tones one of 'Le Promo...' are similar work. I'm also impressed with facility with languages that you and so many Europeans show. HLJ, Pat

The compsotion with the 2 floors is very good. i personally prefer the cropped version, the other one being so symmetric that it is becomes a bit heavy for my taste. When it come to the colour treatment I like the result which looks quite natural (at first I was thinking it was some mosses). Now the original was quite good as well. So was it necessary to get away from reality. i cannot tell.

Cette façade est vraiment très belle et un régal pour les amoureux de la grande architecture. J'aime beaucoup ton cadrage et la netteté de l'image qui nous permet de bien apprécier les détais quant au traitement de la couleur, j'ai mis en parallèle les deux photos bien que cela donne un effet original qui n'est pas désagréable du tout, j'ai tout de même une préférence pour l'original, plus naturel. Toutefois un bel essai.

Je suis du même avis que notre ami papagolf qui a bien résumé ma pensée. J'aime les deux versions car elles sont différentes l'une de l'autre et apportent chacune leur caractère particulier. Il est vrai que la première fait plus naturelle, mais la seconde apporte un plus qui me fait penser à ce que fait notre ami Xavshot. Et puis bravo pour ton excellent POV et merci de nous avoir montré les deux versions. Je t'encourage à continuer dans cette voie.

Hello Mark
Feels good to know that my earlier pic served an inspiration for this experiment. Now coming to the picture... While the original (WS)has a good symmetry, the crop has given a pronounced diagonal effect with the statues. I would go with the colours of the original as the PPed colours do not come out as natural. Also there is a wide variation in exposure...bright at the top with a shaded lower half. I think this is good candidate for a B&W or even light sepia. Having said that I tried a small WS just to see myself. What do you think?
You know what Mark, you've got a fine photographic eye...I would like to see more experimental shots from you.

j'étais sur le point de critiquer le "big ben" fantaisie qui suit cette photo quand j'ai vu qu'il y avait un challenge dans celle ci;
J'ai bien lu la note t je vois de quoi il s'agit, et je trouve que c'est très réussi, je le ressent comme un viellissement par la pollution des pierres; L'angleterre recelle de nombreux magnifiques sites qu'il est très agréable de découvrir dans leur ensemble, ce détail avec le traitement donne une vue réaliste, voire un peu pessimiste de ces pierres par la "fumée" ui les recouvre... On a envie de fzaire comme pour la cathédrale Notre dame à Paris, un nettoyage au lazer. En tout cas c'est une belle réussite technique, un peu différente en résultat de l'utilisation d'un filtre à la prise, car les parties les plus claires auraient reçues la même dominante mi verte mi turquoise qui est appliquée ici mais sans recouvrir l'image.
Du beau travail.

Olá Mark, very good post! You should do more of these and I agree with Angshu: "...you've got a fine photographic eye...I would like to see more experimental shots from you."
I like very much these two detailed images of your last posts.
For the composition I totally agree with your crop. This non symetric one is nicer for me and I love the interplay with the diagonals (statue with statue and window with window). About the pp, I tend to agree with Kath (I also love colors, but TE is making me search for B&W. The fact is that I don't deslike this experience at all and I also like the work of Angshu. In the end, I'm glad that you posted all of them for comparison and discussions. Thanks a lot,

wonderful shot. And wonderful composition. I like the opposite mirroring simetry (I think you'll understand ;)) here. Yes, it's a very nice detail and wery well presented... but I was catched from this aged green colour (while lookin at the tumbnails) that I like so much. Wonderful shot!

Je ne serais pas capable de faire ce travail, Mark, mais je le trouve excellent. J'aime les tons obtenus et le recadrage. Il me semble que c'est une toute autre photo que celle du WS tant le PP est bien fait.
