Photographer’s Note

After having endured a conference I rewarded myself a week of trekking in the Scottish Highlands with a good friend. The scene is from the West Highland Way which crosses through some of the most spectacular scenery in all of Scotland, indeed in all of the UK. The trail is a little too crowded for my taste. But people are friendly and I guess it does not hurt that there are pubs along the way...

We had greyish weather most of the way so not so much good light for photography (which is good since we walked 30 Kilometer every day and shared a bottle of scotch every evening).

On this day the weather was great though and I thought this scene came out OK with the overgrown fence leading into the landscape. It was actually very hard to expose. the clouds kept burning out or the fence kept getting too dark. But a fill-flash helped a lot I think.
