Photographer’s Note
The church, with semi-circular portico and tower, was built in 1826-9 and was designed by Thomas Cundy, then architect to the Grosvenor estate in Westminster. The original site of Normanton Church (St Matthew's Church as it was once known) would have placed it below the proposed water line of Rutland Water. It was saved from this fate following a project, aided by voluntary subscription, which raised the level of the church and placed it above the water level on a pier of stones. The Church now stands proudly by the side of Rutland Water and houses a museum and exhibition on the building of the reservoir which is open to the public from April to October.

Hi Michael,
Nice shot, you've placed this church on a nice place in your frame, good that you have left so much space over on the left side. Good sharpness and details.
Thanks for the note.

This church, I'm told has a natural lean in its tower. Good exposure and composition but maybe a slight crop from the right - up to the building's edge would improve it further. Just my preference of course. Very good work Mick.

Hi Michael, welcome to TE. Nice shot of the church at the right time of year. We were cycling around here in October, but it dosn't look nearly as nice with the reservior low.
A few of us from the local area meet up occassionally. Maybe you'd like a drink sometime, though I'm bakc for two days between trips. Maybe after Xmas.

It really looks inviting, Michael and the
church itself seems to be quite a peace of
architecture.
Good composition allows us to follow the
curve line that's taking us to the church
and then realise its position towards its
surrounding.
Lovely natural colours and interesting
perspective effect.
