Photographer’s Note
This is my second attempt at lightning photography. Just to be on the safe side here I set up under the amusement arcade at Barry Island. With the wind and rain lashing everywhere, I tried to keep my lens dry and waited patiently. When the lightning struck I nearly jumped out of my skin. I'm still shaking an hour later!

Wow, this is a very "enlightning" picture Jeff! I like the bolt hitting down on the ground. The white color against the dark blue and stormy sky is such a beautiful contrast. This is a very good picture. The framing with the two pillars on the right, the wet, slicky ground amd the whole atmosphere of the scene is very delightful to see. very good use of tripod and reflexes on your side to capture this maginificent event. Cheers from Canada :-)

Hi Jeff,
You were very brave indeed. The positions we will put ourselves into to get that perfect shot is a little scarey. However you have done really well here I like your composition very much with the street lights and the silhouette of the small hut. Well done.
Cheers,
Debbie

I am amzed by the colour of the sky in this one, and really like the composition, given you couldn't know where the lightning was going to strike. Do you just shoot and hope?

Hi Jeff,
fantastic shot. I love the blue of the sky and the street lights going away to the left, the image is balanced by the pillars on the right. A great capture, well done.

Hey Jeff,
Electrifyingly nice dude! Photographing lightnings is difficult. Be cautious next time coz you'll never know where it would strick next, though good idea to stay under a roof and make sure your feet area is dry too. Frightening to think if someone by chance walking in that area with a umbrella :/
Nice 'neon' light effect and electric blue sky! This is all worth the shot...excellent job!
Cheers!

Terrific capture, really stunning. Still rains in Barry then, always did on the local colliery outings anyway.

Stunning capture Jeff, I am so envious. What time of night is this? No lightning here till about 1 Am. Do you have neat image noise reduction software? If not download a free trial of it, I reckon it would make this shot superb. Well done.
Phil.
