I like this one a lot. It does exactly what you say, the storyline is very clear.Makes me feel a little sad but being young once I know how thoughtless youth is.As we grow older the the refrain is "too late, too late" to listen to our dearest elders.
The diagonal composition works very well here.

Nice story behind the pic. A nice frame + angle. I'd like the DOf to be shallower and possibly more motion blur, just to seperate the two a little bit more. Bit the idea and compo is innovative, very nice result. I like it. Gd intimate photog!

Hi Kajal, this makes an immediate impact and, although the image is cropped hard, it perfectly illustrates your Note. I notice more and more that the hands are very powerful elements in your compositions. Here, the old man's wrinkled hand, and its extended finger, is one of the sharpest elements in the image. Great tonal range too. I have to make it a favourite. By the way, did you think more about the PowerRetouche plug-in? Best wishes Stephen

Teriffic tilt/crop effect and b/w cuts to the bone (of contention). You just don't need those extraneous heads or even shoulders of the younger brigade. I love the tree diagram! And the bloke's gnarly finger. But the crucial bit is the perfectly positioned corner piece bottom left where that knee serves the purpose of balance and closure, somehow. Delightful shot, one of your best recent ones for sure, I think.

I like it a lot Kaj. This is humorous and sad at the same time, somewhat Chaplinesque. There is something haunting about the way the elderly man looks ahead of him while pointing on the family tree with his boney finger, as ifhe has been sitting there for years and mumbling stories about his family members to imaginary listeners. It is a powerful depiction of old age, especially in a foreign land.

The thing I like about this picture is that it leaves room for imagination beyond what is immdiately observable.

Hello Kaj, perfect timing, a superb shot both graphically and contextually. The motionless arm of the elderly man pointing at the family tree juxtapsoed by the grandchild's motionblurred exit in his hiphop gear... a superb observation...

Hi Kaj. This is a bit of a miss for me, sorry. I think you needed to be a little lower and maybe more to the left. Slightly looking down is still important as you want to show the family tree, but the feeling of looming over the man is not super comfortable to me. This might have helped to not crop the guys in the background as they are. The crop isn't terrible IMO, but it isn't really a plus for me. I do like the diagonal that is created by the guy dressed all in black and I think your toning is quite good overall. I wouldn't mind it being sharper to be honest; actually looking more closely, it is sharp at his hand and not his face. I guess I would prefer the other way. As with many of your uploads, I both like and admire that you are working from in close with a wide angle and I also like that you are creating a series rather than individual photos. As a series, have you given any thought to going all color or all b&w? Just curious about that.
