Taken during a brief break in a snow storm, these horses were photographed in my home village of Warkworth in Northumberland.
I liked the way the horses were playing together, and decided to try and catch them with the castle as a backdrop.

Fantastic shot! The background really is perfect and make this shot even more special. I love that you have caught the horses while playing, they look so happy in the snow!
I love horses and have been taking pictures of them since I was a child, and I know how hard it can be to get a grat shot at them. You have succeeded.

I love it! These horses look like they're enjoying themselves in the snow. The sheen of their coats is nicely visible and your DOF separates them from the background very well.

Nice shot, Good use of limited DoF, technically spot on and a good feeling of action.
It's a shame the top of the castle is cropped otherwise perfect

James, great capture of this playful romp in the snow. The movement of chase and escape in both animals is well displayed. My only negative remark would be that there is either too little or too much of the background castle...IOW,failing inclusion of the entire castle top, I think it could stand some cropping from the top to focus on the horses.

very very lively picture..(before reading the note I thought they were trying to warm up getting closer)...O loved the castle behind..makes this picture timeless...

Wonderful photo! I like the simplicity of the composition and the scene, and you picked a great moment to capture those two playing in the snow.

Stunning photograph. It is very apparent that the horses are playing with one another. This provides a contrast to the formal and serious looking castle in the background. Great moment!

Great shot. Would make a nice poster. A little less snow in the front and being able to see the top of the castle would be perfect.

I did a painting of a horse under a snow storn, they look pretty any time of the year. A lovely picture!
