The White Bridge Photo

Photographer’s Note

On our holiday in Scotland in August 2005 we came across this bridge, calles the White Bridge.
This bridge is located at the southside of Loch Ness, between Inverness and Fort Augustus.

One of the best examples of a hump-backed single span wade bridge, crossing the river Fechlin and carrying the military road engineered in 1732 (date on bridge) by Major William Caulfeild,roads inspector under general Wade.
This famous route linked the hanoverian barrack-forts of Inverness and Kilchumein, now Fort Augustus.
The hotel is believed to be on the site of a king's house.

Thank you Nel, The plants are a little out of focus in the left foreground, nothing that a little sharpening couldnt fix ;) I'm sure it's from resizing. I like the composition of this picture. I just feel like rotating it to see the road over the bridge though!! Maybe a frame would be a good idea? Nice work.

Beautiful location, but looks like the light wasn't the best. i would try and crop out the bland sky and up the contrast on the rest a little. It is worth the effort Nel!

Hi Nel lovely photo i like your photos from Scotland it is remind my some bridges that i crossed in 1988 while i was cycling from London to perth and back to London good to remember it where are those days cheers Shimon
