Thanks to William Blake (1757-1827) for the title; it’s the last line of the hymn “Jerusalem”.
We were on a 6½ mile walk from Sutton Bank in the North Yorkshire Moors National Park and this is the view we had while we ate our picnic lunch. I remarked to my husband at the time “This is England at her best”.
If you look in the WS I will point out where we were sitting. After lunch we began our ascent through the woods to the top of the escarpment again. It was a longer path than the descent but not as steep.
Please look in the theme (left) for more information and other shots taken at Sutton Bank.

This is what I call a lovely landsape. These hedges, these groups of trees, these small forests and the fields and meadows in between...and all under this wonderful blue sky!
I would like to hike there ... A lovely picture!
Greetings from Germany, and have a nice weekend!

Hi Kath, still sorting things out after my holiday so I haven't had time to look over all your postings yet (I'll get round to it eventually!).
You're quite right, this is England at its best, green fields and trees and a beautiful blue sky.
I like your composition with the tree in the foreground on the right and the cris-cross patterns of the trees.

Have a nice weekend.

good composition of this open land with all those spread trees. It's still green but you can see that it has been dry for a while.

I agree about the fact your countryside is a beautiful one (I have to go there !!) even if the grass looks a little burnt here (like everywhere in Europe). Whatever, a smart pov.

A beautifull landscape with very nice colors and many interesting featurs to much observed, thanks to the excellent sharpness of the view : the hedge in the foregorund, the diffrent rows of trees and the isolated ones, but mainly the curved group near the center of the picture.
Unfortunatly, I am not familiar with Blake's work to compliment your for your erudition...
All the best,

Not knowing England, I can still believe your comment that, “This is England at her best,” with the fields framed with the rows of trees and the swirls of clouds in the skiy.

I like the blue green color combination, & superb sharpness & lighting. Good repetition of the trees & rolling fields. Tfs!

Hi Kath. There's a lot to like in this bright cheery shot. The colors, light and sharpness are all perfect. The tree on the near right adds a little extra interest that is well used. Good work Kath!

I like the layering here very much. The Nikon Colours RULES!!
Extremely good lighting n technical quality. But I think that 'twig' from the right isn't really necessary in a landscape like this. Good shot.

In England I was mostly to the Southwest, but this is also what I remember more: green, green and green.
You've got here a nice sky too.
