Photographer’s Note
Crummock Water yet again, but this time its at night.
I took this at about 11.30pm, after the pub had closed. Even though it was late, there was still quite a bit of light in the sky.
I used a shutter speed of around six minutes, and this had the effect of blurring the water quite considerably. I like the result; the water almost looks like a sheet of glass.

Hi Ben,
A bit dark, but i like this image: the water looks like ice with the frozen-in boats. Awesome dark violet.

Hello Ben
a good idea, but it's underexposed, boats can't be seen ... i thought the nikonist used D-lighting !! (:)) hahaha you should buy a Canon ...
6 min for exposure, its very long ... you had to play with aperture ... i think you choosed f/11 or more ... by using a bigger aperture f/5,6 you get more light ... and 11.3o pm isn't the right choice ...
ok tonite you leave the pub earlier and you'll make a good compo !
Take care, regards, hugues

Hi ben, nice composition - how did you get the boats to remain sharp over such a long exposure?

This sounds like a good night to me - beautiful beer (The Kirkstile Inn?) with a photo like this afterwards.
Little dark on the left. but apart from that you've done well with this exposure - very peaceful.
Cheers

hi ben, technically speaking it is underexposed- that's at least what i learned reading one of the comments, and it may be true, but i coudn't care less. this photo has one of the most wonderful mysterious atmospheres I've seen. the strrong contrast attract the eye. the water looks almost solid, and due to that, a bit unearthly, and in spite of the darkness you managed to have everything sharp. as far as i'm concerned this photo is wonderful!
best regards
A.

Hi Ben,
6 minutes exposure shot is amazing and so is the end result. As you rightly said, the water almost looks like a sheet of glass. Wonderful capture! I would be fortunate if I can ever manage to capture anything like this.

Dark tones, mysterious but very well composed.
However it is a darker picture, we can see the details of the boat good, a nice silhouette-picture
