Photographer’s Note
A passenger train of the "Fairbourne & Barmouth Steam Railway" on the 12 1/4 Inch gauge line from Penrhyn Point to Fairbourne. The way the driver is sitting in the steam locomotive "Sherpa" and the disorder in the aligment of the coaches together with the wild landscape: all that makes the train looking more like a diesel engine with a rake of goods waggons.

Way back in the past the locomotive's drivers were sitting unprotected like this guy and were eating a lot of black smoke and fumes from the engine.
The gauge was 4' 8" and the year before 1860.
Viewer cannot tell which way is going the train.
