Photographer’s Note
The winter sun slices through the remnants of the morning mist in the Outwoods - a part of the ancient Charnwood Forest. These woods along with Jubilee Wood and the Beacon Hill Country Park are within walking distance of my home in Loughborough - I have been walking there for 27 years and love the place very dearly. Most of Charnwood Forest now forms the eastern edge of the New National Forest - Leicesteshire was (and maybe still is) one of the least forested areas of the UK although in Roman times little remains of the ancient Britons of this area because they were mostly forest dwellers.
Much of the forest is now farmland and there are a number of horse studs in the area.

hi kev,
"forest dwelling" in england will always stay in association with a certain man in the hood, in my mind; and a foolosh sheriff of nottingham :-))
this image is something exceptional, considering that the urban shots remian your mainstream so i do appreciate your "fresh" look, kev;
good work,
best, j.

Fantastic lighting. It's an effect I have attempted to capture for years and always failed miserably! Lovely composition as well. Lots of interest but the silver birch trees draw the eye toward the centre nicely.

Hello Kev, I love the light filtering through the branches. Superb atmosphere that could be enhanced, IMO, if you'd decrease brightness.

Hi Kev,
Great, misty atmosphere with this forest scene. I like especially the light "working" between the trees. I thought that You was back to Poland when I saw it in a small size... Nice shot. regards. maki

Hi Kev.
The key here is light and colours.
They are so nice, I wonder how much of it is real and how much is PP, but the final result is perfect.
Fog combined with sun does tend to create perfect light.
all the best, Aleks

I dont know this neck of the woods at all.......but you manage to illustrate much more than this enchanted forest and its mellow light. I think what really shines through is your love of the place in which you live, we see this not only with the obvious beauty here but with your festivals scenes, your street culture - kev you are as rooted as these trees. x

This is so beutiful, Kev, so filled with mystery and love. The composition is also very fine with the prominence of the two trees leaning inwards, giving a beautiful framing to the scene. The colours, the tones, the light are superbly evocative, reflecting your sentiments about this sacred spot. I also love roaming in the forests nearby; the Gatineau hills are what really mean something deep to me in this part of the world.

Hi Kev,
I love these kinds of scenes, and this one is a good example - all the trees are leaning towards the centre, mirroring the sunbeams.
It's not easy to choose the right POV, but you have done it here - nice one!
Thanks

Hey Kev,
what a switch. I like it but I have to say that I much prefer you in the urban environment where you can let that twisted sense of humor run wild. The shot is good. I like the light a lot. It has a mystery to it.

Hi Kev. Ever since I read the English poets, particularly Wordsworth, I have fallen in love with the English countryside. Evev the dark woods of Wind in the Willows fired my imagination when I read the story to my boys years ago. This haunting and magical scene that you present here contributes further to my imaginings of your rich land.Marvellous light, great depth. regards, Klaudio. Thanks for your visit.
