Photographer’s Note

Bombed ruins of "The Old Cathedral" in Coventry. The original St. Michael's Cathedral was largely constructed between the late 14th century and early 15th century but now stands ruined, bombed almost to destruction in the infamous nine-hour blitz on November 14, 1940 by the German Luftwaffe. Only the tower and spire along with the outer wall survived. Before 1918 it was the church of St. Michael, the largest parish church in England, but in that year was elevated to cathedral status after the creation of Coventry Diocese. The new St. Michael's cathedral, built next to the remains of the old, was designed by Basil Spence and is a Grade I listed building. The ruin of the older cathedral remains hallowed ground.

Hi Raza,
Nice POV of ruins here. The colors and sharpness is good. The background sky is looking good from the frames of the architecture.

Very interesting picture with great subject, the human presence and a great contrast and light.
I would have prefer if the top of the ruins were included on the picture...

A pretty frame of these ruins. It is a pity as the wars destroy so many beautiful things. Good definition in this photo. The colors very contrasted although to my I like.

Good framing & great colours. The contrast between the building & the sky is very good. I feel you could have taken the shot a bit up, cutting off the tourists & getting more of the cathedral

Les couleurs sont très appréciables et je note une parfaite netteté.
Cependant le cadrage est trop serré, les parties supérieures de la cathédrale sont coupées.

The colors are very appreciable and I note a perfect clearness. However framing is tightened too much, the high parts of the cathedral are cut.
