Another shot of the pier lights at Saltburn. This was one of those 'wet feet' moments we're all familiar with! I remember thinking when I was taking the shot with the water swirling round my feet, don't let go of the camera!

The rough sea helped the composition with the large waves reflecting the pier lights and creating a mist effect. Hope you like it, all critiqes welcome.

Hi Paul! Wow, it really looks like a sci-fi picture, so smooth is the abstract water en so sharp are the pilars. The metal of the pilars look really incredible. What a great point of view, really good idea en very creative! Well done, Regards Florian

Hi Paul,
Extraordinary image quality you have here. Thank you for the note as well. The mist effect is successful, and goes very well with the wet supports. The PP work seems also perfect.
Congrats,
Raluca

Far out!!!!! Off to my favorites!! Thanks for sharing!

Excellent Photo love the atmosphere

Bonsoir,
Quele atmosphère ! C'est très beau, bravo !

I've seen many shots of the pier posted on TE, but never seen one quite like this. You would almost think it was shot in B&W, then you look at it and you see the faintest hints of colour appearing. Amazing POV which I think has been made even more dramatic by the posts in the foreground being in silhouette. Very good use of a slow shutter speed to blur the motion in the sea and add a ghostly effect to the picture. An impressive shot.
Alex.

Hi Paul, quite an eerie shot! I really like the effect the long exposure has, really adds some atmosphere to the image.
Adrian

Very fascinating shot giving me the illusion that the construction is floating on the clouds. Creative and well captured.

Wow, what a spectacular effect. The columns disappearing in the white 'mist' are fantastic. It looks like the cover or advertisment of either a horror (do I see a dead man's hand reaching out of the mist...?) or a sci-fi story. Seeing your exposure time of 8 seconds and your "... don't let go of the camera" remark confuses me a bit. Surely you were not taking this picture handheld, were you?

I like this shot... futurist atmosphere... colors, water, metal... so beautiful!
;-)

Amazing, almost like it's been shot in a studio. Incredibly well-composed, and the misty effect of the sea works so well. Very brave place to be with a camera!
Cheers
Brian

Amazing lighting paul, such a different view of this pier than were used to! i know the feeling of feet in the sea, not only will the camera fall but will the water fill my wellies! well worth the effort- this is a cracker!

This is a classic shot. Worth the wet feet. I love the perspective view you got. Great job.

Excellent shot! I really like the repeated theme of the pier supports, getting smaller and smaller as you get farther away, showing the distance. The waves really do look like mist, and give the shot an unusual look - very striking and beautiful!

The combination of lines is great in this photo. And the light is just amaizing with the mist effect.I'm hook!

Very fascinating shot,Paul.Great atmosphere. Very good works
JJ

Great point of view you've choosen to capture this scene. THe artificial lights provide a very nice effect increased by the exposure time that smoothes the water plan. The various details like these rusty steel piers are very well rendered and well defined. Very well done !

Hi Paul
Good low light shot. Nice misty feeling and a nice metallic look to the composition. The Graphic nature of the shot works well and the repitition works well too.
Nice work.
Aubrey

Hi Paul - good imaginative shot, well executed.

Canon 20D... have you been spending money too?

Very effective, very graphical and atmospheric, you woulndt think it was under a pier. I like your use of the natural framing. you had your tripod in the sea?

I love this! Very atmospheric and you've created a great effect with your choice of exposure. I think the shot is very well framed and the repeating patterns are wonderful and display great clarity.

Fantastic shot Paul. I love the symmetry and the repeating lines of the pier supports. The slow shutter on the waves creates a wonderful atmosphere. I don't know if you saw the one I took some time ago called Hubble Bubble... from a different POV. What WB did you use? it looks as if you used incandescent (tungsten) to take the yellow out of the pier lights.
I'll put this is my favourites and also in the pier theme.

Amazing shot Paul, very surreal. Looks like some strange fog coming in off the sea. Looking down the underside of the pier gives it a futuristic look too, could be the portal to another world. Well seen.

Hi Paul, this is nice photo. God composition and POV. Fog makes this photo mistique. TFS

Hi Paul,
this is absolutely magic! I'm glad I didn't miss this one (was off-line these days).
I think this image must be stunning to those who are not familiar with Saltburn pier and the beach, but even more stunning to us who know exactly what the location looks like.
I think you should always remain in search for moments like this, where reality and dreams walk together!
Great work,
Robi

Very interesting shot!
Nice light and compo!
Well done!
