Photographer’s Note

Another shot of the rocks on Darmoor that I took on holiday last year. This particular formation can be seen from the road, but you have to walk about half a mile to get up close.

The cloud line seemed to be mimicking the position of the rocks.

Resized, added border and run through NeatImage.

Lovely picture, and for me it may be the cloud-line that really makes it work. Fine colors, and nice composition.

Great cloudscape, Vicky, and you are right about the cloud formation seeming to mimick the rocks - that's what makes this composition so striking. Good framing, exposure and excellent sharpness. Great shot! I like the dramatic sky - the clouds there seem to echo the huge rocks on the ground, just as you say. Great lighting also, giving this a very saturated colour and lots of detail. Well done!

I say this a lot when I critique a photo - the best shots, for me, are all about atmosphere. I want to feel like I am there, and with this picture I do. I can't put it any other way than I can feel the breeze on my face, the sun on my back and the grass between my toes.

Vicky, it seems we have similar interests with regards subjects we like photographing in Cornwall and Devon. This is another great image, well composed with good sharpness and colour contrasts.
