Photographer’s Note

Porthleven small fishing port located between the Lizard Point and Lands End, specialized for crab and lobster fishing.
"Charming church" I said to a Cornish fisherman. He answered me while laughing with good heart "It is not a church, it is a billiard club!"

Film Kodachrome 64.
I used Neat Image to compensate for clearness, but I am not satisfied with the result.

Savoureuse, l'anecdote à propos du billard ! Ca ne s'invente pas, il faut vraiment être du coin pour le savoir...
Charmant petit port. Une fois de plus je suis assez sidérée du résultat obtenu sur un cliché qui a plus de 20 ans. Il y manque peut-être un peu de netteté, mais je n'oublie pas que nos yeux ne s'habituent que trop à la qualité numérique.
Les couleurs en tout cas sont restées vives et naturelles.

Une photo bien belle qui a un très joli côté rétro... Bon cadrage et une luminosité très intéressante. Il y a également un côté très "figé" qui fonctionne bien ici, et donne cette impression toute particulière... Bon bout d'an comme on dit en Provence et passez de très bonnes fêtes de fin d'année Said.

On attend avec impatience les résultats que donneront votre nouveau scanner à diapositives. Entre-temps, je trouve le cadrage de l'église, pardon du club de billard, bien fait. Bravo!

It's a nice photo, Said. I like the view of the small harbor and I like the old cars very much. Before I saw the "date taken" I thought - were did he find so many old cars? I especially like the brown one in the middle. I tried a WS, which, I hope, will make you more satisfied with your lovely photo.

Un charmant petit port de pêche. L'Eglise transformée en salle de billard est surprenante (quoique sur TE, nous ayons vu des églises à vendre).
Les couleurs claquent comme du linge au vent (genre film kodak ou similaire).
Belle composition avec un point fort dominant (église) ! J'apprends mes leçons, n'est-ce pas Didi ?

Pas mal l'anecdote et la photo malgré son age est quand même bonne , j'aime la vue et le cadrage c'est bien fait , un joli petit port.

This is so typical of a Cornish fishing village - a very nice composition. It is a long time since I visited Cornwall and nice to see a photo taken there. The colours are muted and it seems like there is not a bright sun when the photo was taken. A nice shot.

Les couleurs, l'intéret du sujet et la beauté du club de billard compensent largement pour le léger flou, qui au fond contribue au charme de cette photo ! Bien vu!

really nice composition. The old buildings and the cars give an atmosfere like 60'. It is like the time has stop in this small port.
Great place for a billiard club, i'm so curios to see how it looks inside.

Didi - thank you for posting your Porthleven series - it brought back some happy memories as I lived there for 8 years in the 70's. Apart from that the photo is well taken.

Hi Didi,
your nice photo returned me back to 80th! Nostalgic harbour captured by nostalgic way. You made very fine work with Kodachrome. I like it!
