Photographer’s Note
What one can see on a clear weekend afternoon in western Europe, these days, it seems, is a sky full of vapour trails. Less than ten years ago seeing a sky criss-crossed with this much evidence of aerial activity might suggest something strange was going on, these days it's just a normal sight, a clear illustration of the rather worrying stats. Of course, I'm also a willing participant in the phenomenon.
In this relentlessly nice autumn weather I'm taking a lot of weekend walks. Unfortunately I found my 20D battery dead, so I had to revert to the Ixus again.

morning richard, and the tiny ixus did a good job - its a very very fine photo; smart title, and i think i understand what you mean - soon the sky could be too packed for any safe activity so the birds decide to stay on ground, very nice shot;
have a nice week, jerzy

Great shot, I had the very same idea at the weekend. Where I live we get the traffic coming in and of Heathrow to Europe and also Stanstead and City Airports. I was going to overlay about 6 different shots to show the routes used but some clouds came along and spoilt it for me. I will have to have another go.

Hi Richard - very interesting sky, where I live a few trails can be seen but never this many, I was also surprised to see skies like this in europe. Well, the transatlantic corridor directly above you IS the busiest air path in the world.

Hi Richard,
A pity for us lovely blue sky, this always full with condens lines, of to left, to righthand, diagonal everywhere see lines. But happy for us, you show the foreground with swans and other swimming birds, also the air balloon very depth make you picture attractive.
Best regards,
John.

Good evening Richard, interesting capture, 'cause of the lights and the pleasing combo of the graphic lines in the sky and and the interspacing of birds. And indeed a worrying state of affairs - I guess air fares are way to low - just to enticing.
Have a nice week,
Bert

Hello Richard,
nice to see the painted sky; over Rhein-Main it's quite a normal view.
Birds 'lightened' up by the sun on this lake give an idyllic contrast!

The premise is simply brilliant here, Richard, and after looking at the image, how beautiful the water and the birds are and thse vapor trails, yur title takes on a powerful poetic overtone which yur notes do nothing to dispel.
A winning shot all the way, really outstanding package! TE at its best...

Wow interesting sky. Those ducks make me smile. They didn't seem to care how wonder the sky was.

Because of weather conditions we do not have those tracks in the air, Richard, but now this image makes A LOT of sense to me ;) and I do love the idea.
