Photographer’s Note
Snowdon from Capel Curig, North Wales
On my way home from a weekend in the mountains of North Wales I just had to stop and photograph this fantastic view - despite the sub zero conditions.
Snowdon, the highest mountain in Wales is a very popular subject for photographers; especially from this specific location. Hopefully you will find this image a little different: A beautiful sunset, reflected in this icy lake. Snowdon itself can be seen with a slight covering of cloud on its summit.
More to follow from this icy, crystal clear weekend over the next few days - see my travelogue 'Walk in the Park'.
Note: You might like to comparethis image with this one which I took almost exactly two years ago also in North Wales, but about 15 miles further north east.

A fantastic photograph. I like the way you have got the rocks not quite in silhoutte, and the subtle colours of the sky reflected in the ice - nice detail of the broken ice in the foreground. A lovely comp with great levels of exposure, and good focus and DOF.
TFS.

Great composition, you have the eye for the balance of light and dark. I like the colours in the water, and the bit of ice makes it really special. Nice to have just a few clouds on the summit (and its not often you can say that!)
cheers, David

hi David,
very beautiful and peaceful scenery. Nice results with the colors. The mountains strangely provide a good shield for the reservoir of light and beauty. I like your sense of composition and the great perspective you chose to show this.
congrats. it's a pretty work.

Behrang

Wonderful! Perfect lighting and colours captured - can even feel the cold through the image! Magical though!

What a beautiful sunset shot DAvid. The pastel colours and the reflections are wonderful. I particularly like the dappled effect the ice at the back of the water has given to the mountain reflections. The composition is perfect with the silhouetted land almost but not quite encircling the water.

Breathtaking image, composition is superb, controlling the exposure to show the slivers of ice on the Llynnau Mymbyr's surface really adds a chilly feel!

David, the colours are great in this shot, the reflections are great, made better through the exposure time, i love the colours throught the shot, the dark stones make the composition tight and also adds a goof deal of interesting to the shot, depth is also created through the great placement of the stones, well taken with a great wide angle lens!

David, one thing I can see is how much you have grown as photographer between the first image and this one. Very clean composition and saturated colors. Well done, thanks for sharing!
