St Mary's Rise Photo

Photographer’s Note

After seeing so many shots from St Mary's i decided it was time that i added my own version to the rest of the stunning shots! this one was taken at around 5am in August, with tripod and ND filter, the colour cast was caused by the sunrise and the white balance of the camera, i like the purple cast to this shot.. To get this viewpoint i had to walk out over seaweed covered rocks trying not to fall into the rockpools, but i think this shot was worth all the effort!

Great shot. Love the colorsetting. The purple glow is giving a very nice touch to the composition. Good job.

I like the unusual colour of this, as well as the subtle gradations of light to dark. The stark graphic of the outline of the lighthouse against the sky is very striking. This is a very strong image that immediately grabs my attention. Well done!

A nice composition with the silhouette of the lighthouse as the focal point. Wonderful purple colour of the 'pre-dawn' reflecting in the ice like sheen of the water, the black frame complimenting the blackness of the island and buildings. A great photograph.
