Photographer’s Note
We are having a nice holiday in the U.K. visiting friends and family and yesterday, on a misty and overcast day, we visited the country town of Shaftesbury in Dorset.
This particular view is at the top of Gold Hill in the town - it is a very steep slope of cobbled roadway with thatched and tiled roof cottages on one side and a buttress of rock face on the opposite side of the road. At this time one of the houses was having a new roof installed or some repairs made. I liked the contrast between the different kinds of rooftop.

Joan is this picture from a dream? The answer should be yes if the construction on left side does not exist. But I like that evidence of reality :)
Very sharp and strong colors.

Joan -
This must be a wonderful village to photograph - I have seen so many great images from this spot. You are right, the different roof's are interesting. I like the thatched roof with the moss growing on it. Your image is well exposed and the fog/haze in the background adds something to the image. But, I really think the construction work needs to be cropped from the image. Well done!

Hi Joan, nice to see you posting again. I like the strong downwards perspective, depth and the mood here. The scaffolding and the car spoil the almost pastoral atmosphere a bit here, but I'm all for realism so I applaud your choice to include them in the picture. Nice job.
Regards from Rotterdam,
Bert
