We did manage to see some blue sky once on our Scottish trip!!
This was taken at Glen Etive on what turned out to be a lovely morning (calm before the storm!). As often with reflective shots I set up for a 50/50 composition. Then I just had to wait for the sun to shine on the island. Without this, the shot wouldnt work, and luckily I didnt have to wait long. Earlier that morning on another location I had to wait an hour just for some light to light up a background mountain, so I was grateful that this only took 5 minutes. The light hitting the hill on the left was a bonus, which again really adds to the overall punch of the shot.

Excellent! C'est une très jolie photo? S'il faut absolument être critique, je dirais que les montagnes du fond sont surexposées.

Perfect composition. The light is absolutely great. The frame is a matter of taste, I would go for a lighter frame. I am not surte that giving more contrast wil result in a better photo, I think that it might loose some of the serenity that it now has.

This photo is almost perfect.
However, phi75 is right about the contrast.
When I added a little contrast to your picture it looks really great.
But overall your photo deserves more than 2 pts. Adding contrast is not a big deal.
jocasta007 (0) 2005-10-16 9:22
I don't know what they are talking about contrast for, I think there monitors are washed out not your image!! An absolutely stunning scene, the colors, contrast, sharpness and above all else the contrast of the blues and green are fantastic. Keep up the good work mate!!
stefi (1230) 2005-10-16 13:29
Hhi Adam, I think that contrast is a frequent issue using a super-wide angle zoom (I have the same problem with my 12-24 Nikkor), but easily recovered in PS.
What cannot be recovered in PP is composition, and your is simply perfect. Even if I usually do not like 50/50, this is great.

A terific shot, great reflection from the water adding to this interesting photo.
Well worth waiting on the lighting.
Not too keen on the black border.
Notes are good, with exception,
We really did have many sunny days in Scotland this year with blue skies.
Thanks your photo.

Just about everything you need in a lndscape shot is here,a well balanved composition with the tree well positioned on a third, excellent reflections and an interesting sky.Add to that spot on exposure and pin sharpness and we have a shot I would be proud to hang on my wall.

Nice day in Scotland; you took this opportunity to catch a symetric image (no wind) of one loch, with a small trees island (spotted on the stong point) surrounded by the hilly landscape. As there are clouds in the sky, there are shadows on the ground, giving the sense of the third dimension
