Photographer’s Note
This is Loch Fyne - one of the sea lochs of the West Coast of Scotland. Sea lochs are essentially Scottish fjords, long sea inlets carved out by glaciation. This was taken from Inveraray, a pretty little 18th century fishing village which nowadays makes more money from tourism than fish being famous for its prison (now an interesting museum) and its castle (great to look out from the outside but inside a bit less interesting at least for me - just the usual rich people showing you their big hoose and collection of antique sporrans).
The photo was taken about midmorning - I spotted the reflections and the cloud and figured the sea weed would make a useful foreground.

This pic is excellent. I like, of course the reflection of the bridge, the coulds and the hill but also the sharpness and the colours. It was also a very good idea to put those sea weed on the foreground! Very good shot!

I agree with Rockyboy here; the foreground adds depth. Thanks also for the informative description.

nice shot. i would perhaps have posted it at maximum resolution (800dpi) to get the most benefit from the detail. what slide scanner did you use?

Great shot. Western Scotland and Isle of Skye are already on my most wanted list for places to visit, and this photo does nothing to push them further down the list. The colours are gorgeous.

Very smart composition. The reflection is almost like a mirror image plus plus plus. Very warm and real colours (un-PS).

A pretty sight, I like this broad plan on the lake with the plants in front of, a good framing and the reflection is really interesting. well considering.

Good shot.
The street divides the hill and its reflex into the water and brings the view far away along it, while clouds transform the reality into a dream.
Anything else has to be said.

A splendid shot that brings back memories of my visit to the same village around the same time (funny enough). This is just how I remember it, but unfortunately I didn't take any good photo's. It was where I bought the greasiest fish&chips in all my life. Even the seagulls had heart problems :) Well done and composed.

Well composed and very nice note. For once I cannot recommend trimming or cropping. I really like this the way it is and it makes me want to revisit Scotland. True TE and lovely natural blue colours. I am fairly sure no postprocessing was attempted.

La composition est parfaite avec ces eaux calmes comme un miroir, le fin nuage bas agrémente parfaitement le paysage.
The composition is perfect with this calm water like a mirror, the thin low cloud decorates the landscape perfectly.

The seaweeds and the little mist, add not just a useful foreground but also that little things which makes a big difference.
You could also feel the coolness and the solitude of the midmorning. And now, if we could only have something looking like a serpentine head cruising with a white waves at its wake...

Woaw that's a great picture.
I don't know why it's the first time I see it.
Anyway the composition is perfect and the reflection is great.
If you ad colours and sky that gives a superb shot.
Thanks.

Beautiful composition, and great conditions for this classic Scottish landscape. It has suffered in compression for web viewing but I'm betting the original slide is terrific, can you beat looking at a well exposed transparency?
I'm with you on the big hoose stuff and that made me smile! Ian

Personally I like landscapes which are wide and give you that breath taking view. Great picture.
