[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
After posting as many shots of Bamburgh Castle on TE, I thought it was best to try something different.
Lindisfarne, or Holy Island as the locals call it, is claimed to be the home of Christianity, not the birth place as so many seem to think. Both St Aidan and St Cuthbert are said to have lived on the island, both playing a major role in coverting people to the faith. The famous Lindisfarne Gospels were written here, and a copy is available to view.
It was once, believe it or not, one of the major trading ports in the country, and is reported to have been a major English stronghold in the conflicts with the Scots.

Post processing the shot has been sharpened using usm, and then framed using a background layer.

Hi Alex,
To tell you the truth, my eyes saw first "Lindisfarne". That attracts me since I do some illumination myself, especially celtic. I have a special interest for the Book of Kells and also for the Lindisfarne Gospels. I would really like to see those books! Ok now, that picture. I like it! The sky is really nice and give a nice touch to the picture. I like the idea to put the fence and the stone wall at the foreground. Nice POV, good sharpening. Hope to see your country in the future! Thank you so much!
Claire

A well photographed place, but I like your composition, using the wall and fence to lead us to the castle. Lovely sky too.

Wonderful composition with very fine light and nice colors. The sky is beautiful and very well captured. I really like the perspective given by the wooden barrier that leads the eye to the background castle. Nice DOF and beautiful textures. Thanks for sharing !

It's a nice shot - couldn't be better really - tidy composition, good exposure, interesting subject! Great stuff!
Regards.
Colin

Excellent Capture

Hi Alex,
First of all, welcome to TE (I know I'm rather late).
I guess you are curious, which one of your two similar views of Bamburgh Castle is better. Well, I like this one more than that one, although I'm not sure why. Colours are more saturated here and contrast stronger. Perhaps this is the main reason.
On the other hand, the composition of the next photo is more interesting -- the fence going from the very bottom better leads an eye to the main subject.
In short, both pictures are very nice :-)

Thanks,
Marek

I've never seen this place before, but in my opinion Your photo shows beauty of Lindisfarne.

Best Regards,
Pawel
