Photographer’s Note
well today is ashleys birthday and we went out for a meal and on the way home stopped off at this field which ive been meaning to photograph for a few days, and it wasnt until Kath (feather) said she wanted to go that i knew i needed to get there first!!!
the light wasnt very good so this one was taken on a 1 second exposure on top of another hay bale, i think its turned out quite well and the exposure i think is good, i like this one for the stepping through the field of the bales out in to the distance.
i hope you like it too, thanks for looking, comments and critiques welcome!

Nice photo Steve. This reminds me of my backyard in New Jersey, (USA). The clarity and the range of the photo makes it work very well.

a classic composition with nice natural light. I would suggest a wider dof though.

Hello Steven,
It's a very original subject with the rolls in the field. Nice composition. I would perhaps try a deeper DoF, however, it's a great shot !

Excellent shot Steven. Great composition, the arrangement of bales works very well. Did it take much time to move them all about the field? ;-) Lovely colours also. I posted a picture on a similar subject recently, but wasn't quite as successful as you: http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Ireland/photo220270.htm

Hi Ste. Good use of the hayrolls for this appealing seasonal compo. The bales are well distributed across the frame, the only thing I would mention is that a slightly deeper DOF might be good for this one. Still a delightful catch.

Nice shots. I do like it. The DOF is very nice.
Is the field sloping down hill or was the camera slightly of level? The hay bale looks like it might run away, it is an interesting effect. Was it expected?

Fine picture showing the season in a fine way... I like how the eye seems to move further and further in to the picture when looking at it... TFS...Ina...

Yup! You beat me to it, but where's the sea? There's been some mention of DOF but I expect with a whole second you already had a fairly big DOF Do you know what it was? Anyway Nice try

Bonjour Steven,
Sujet mille fois traité, et très souvent bien traité, cette photo ne fait pas exception.
DOF bien étudiée, une photo qui devient floue au fur et à mesure qu'un s'éloigne. C'est un choix.
Best regards.
Daniel.

Hej Steven,
A real late-summer shot this is. Here in Danmark this view is also quite common. You have a nice composition as well as DoF. Well done.
Hilsner,
Lars

Nice photo Steven,
The bale at the front is perfectly situated and the others guide your eyes in.

Hey Stevie, I know the fields here, and I have passed by when the light has been good and saw it woudl be great for photos, however ive never been able to get out. Shame you missed that light here, but at least you got a photo to show for your trip.
Simple composition showing the bales in the field, and a bit of the woods. Pity the sky was a bit plain too.

Hi Steven,
A well composed shot, with a souperb POV. The hay stacks are ideally spread in nice proportions across the field. The slice of green grass in the brown field adds a good dash of contrast. My only slight irritation is with the distant power poles, but that is minor. The shot has a real mood to it, and given the light issues you refer to, your exposure choice was a good one.
John
