SUTTON BANK HILLFORT
Roulston Scar Camp, Thirsk, Yorkshire
Map Ref: SE514816
Landranger Map Number: 100
Latitude: 54.227544N
Longitude: 1.213069W
My first post from this location was taken so you can see the very edge of the hillfort. Here you can see it again - so imagine walking on the top, near the edge...
... once you stop and turn around to see how far is the starting point, you'll have THIS very view laid in front of you.
Well, isn't that something!?
Dark area down on the fields is shadow from the cloud above (quite a big one!).
Anyway, I'm leaving you for two weeks... off to John Lennon airport in about three hours... summer holidays... ;-D
Thanks for visiting!

I love the way the sunlit and shaded areas divide the scene. The point of view is also great, with the cliff in the foreground and the valley unfolding below. Well done!

Hi Robi. That's quite the plunge down! You have really captured the cliff so well with tons of details. Everything is perfect and I can't see a thing I would alter. Good one Robi!

Hej Robi,
Well, this is a great view indeed. I like the rough rocks as well as the impressively big shadow of the cloud!
Enjoy your holidays!

Hi Robert,
What a breathtaking view you have captured here. I like the play of light and shadow. Your POV is superb and accentuates the drama of the cliff height. Well framed and cropped too. Great shot.

Nice view and nice contrast between the rocky formation covered in dense woods and the neatly laid out fields in the background. It's a neat contrast and one that works well with the lines in the image to draw the eye through the shot, down the rock and out over the fields and back again. I wonder if it could use a bit more contrast, at least in the fields in the back. Maybe some slight burning even out there. Nicely seen, though, and photographed.

Bonjour Robi,
POV extraordinaire couleurs intenses et piqué précis, voici de bons ingrédients pour cette photo très réussie ou la profondeur est bien ; Lumières bien règlées parmis les jeux d'ombres et de soleil.
Compliments.
Daniel.

This cloud approaching is really impressive. Well composed and a good idea to have this cliff in the foreground.

A fine and different landscape view indeed - I like the high POV and fine mix of clouds shadows and light - the close object - the cliff gives a fine feeling of depth - thanks Robert for a good job.

Bonjour Robert
Je note une bonne maîtrise de l'exposition au niveau des ombres et des hautes lumières.
Le point de vue est très intéressant.
Hello Robert
I note a good control of the exposure with the level of the shades and high lights. The point of view is very interesting.
