Photographer’s Note
This is a photo of the promenade under the railway bridge at Dawlish, Devon. I was taking a walk along the beach, looking for photo-opportunities and the interesting patterns in the bridge support caught my eye. The young boy was throwing stones down onto the beach.
Conditions: Dry, Sunny, late afternoon. Handheld.

Hi Andy,
I know you told me not to critique photos of yours which didn't get any points yet, but I can't stand that this picture is left pointless. It really is a very good shot. The composition is almost perfect: I would only suggest a less tight crop on the right, so the stairs would be completely in the frame and not just barely. The POV on this one is great and the exposure is spot on. I like the little boy in the frame (you kept to the rules of thirds) and the fact he has his hands on top of his head makes the photo look less static. The pattern formed by the railway bridge is very enjoyable.
TFS!
Regards,
Pieter

Hi Andy,
There is something very nice about this photo, which is not evident from the thumbnail...I have never been to Devon, so I would not have placed thus secene there...
The boy's posture is charming and adds a lot to the shot, as well as the distance between him and you...
The picture quality and tones are really good...
I would agree with the tight cropping on the right...
