Thats right a sunRISE!! I couldnt sleep last night and around 04:00 I realised sunrise was approaching so popped out to saltburn to try and catch it.
I took a few shots and "thought" I knew where the sun was going to pop up, but it supprised me exactly how much the sun moves along the horizon just before it does!
Anyway the clouds I thought woudl make for some interesting skies but all it really did was obscure the sun!
I have 3 or 4 interesting (I think) silhouette and sky shots I would like to show you to see what you think. This one the first shows of course the pier and huntcliff with a fence leading across the beach in the foreground leading along to the pier.
PP I tampered with curves slightly (used the auto feature) The colours ARENT too exagerated, only brightened a touch.
Thats what I like about this seriesof photos, there were so many variations on the sky.
Comments and suggestions on improvement appreciated.
Also I'm hoping to be an insomniac sometime again soon because with the tide receding like it was it woudl be a superb photo to get the pier, huntcliff and the sunrising above the sea! So lets hope in the next few days we stay clear!!

A superb sunrise with excellent color & sharpness. The pier outline, adds a graphic quality to the image. Well done!

Great sunrise! I realy like the colours, and the silhoette of the pier and railing adds a lot to the photo. What is also nice, but not shown too much in the photo is the reflections off the water. Well done!

First of all top marks for getting up so early. Sunrises over Huntcliff can be spectacular as you have found. This is a really lovely image, I think you have done well with the letterbox format. Well done

Nice sunset picture Mark, with great colours and excelent silhouettes of the cliff and pier.
It's a shot I've been meaning to try for a while but driving up to Saltburn that early takes some doing!

Excellent shot full of contrasts, Mark!
Your getting up earlier paid off huge.
Great compo with a very important role of the railing that improves the perspective a lot.
My favourite compo of colours: black vs violet and purple/lilac.

You are an early riser Mark, even earlier than I got up for my sunrise pics. You've got some nice, unusual colours there. It's not often you see a purple sky, the pier is nicely silhouetted against it too. Well done!

Gorgeous! The colors, silhouettes, composition, lighting, foreground... everything about this shot is wonderful! Makes getting up so early worthwhile, or in your case I guess, a sleepless night.

Hello, Mark, What makes this so striking is the detailed patterns and variety of silouhetted lines against the illuminated water. Lovely pinks and lilacs blending sky and ocean. You have managed (again) to capture a beautifully serene sunrise.
You don't need insomnia to get shots like this, just a nice, annoying alarm clock and enough artist's determination to make a cup of coffee at 3am--and GO.

Really beautiful colours in the sky and excellent silhouettes, especially the ones in front. Nice and quiet sea as well.

Great effect on this photo Mark this sunrise is wonderful. I like this pink colours and the Pier and the rocks are doing like shadows. Well done also for the panoramic cut.

Very nice photo. Although the lightconditions are not very easy to handle here, the photo is amazingly sharp! The lines are very nice, both the straight ones and those from the foreground, especially those from the foreground give the photo an exciting/intresting composition. The people are also a good add.

Your shots have distinct traits....lines. Good use of leading lines to make it easy to look at the picture. Good work/s.

Hi Mark - beautiful sunrise, worthy of an early start , the silhouettes form very interesting patterns, and the magenta sky is fantastic.

Great shot Mark!
We're so used to seeing sunrises/ sunsets with the inclusion of this BRIGHT glowing light, seeing a shot such as this is refreshing. The colors are superb, but the real star of this shot I think are the silhouettes of the railing & pier.
