A shot of a colourful collection of plastic fishing crates on the pebble beach in Worthing, West Sussex which also shows the depth of patriotic feeling with two England flags flying above the little shop that sells the day's catch. England play their second match in the World Cup tonight and as Lord Nelson once said………"England expects…."

Hello Brian - I like the juxtaposition of the colourful crates and the flags and this shot shows your eye for detail very well. A simple idea but one that is beautifully crafted.
As to the match tonight.... fingers crossed!

Well spotted subject and brilliant crop! The combination of colours is wonderful and the flags the cherry on the cake.

the neat thing is that they are around us in our world everywhere but we just keep passing by them.
the flags on top are a excellent touch of 'home'

Very good idea to make a very graphical shot. Excellent colours and geometric shapes. Perfect exposure and sharpness.

I just had to choose this one because of the flags, as St Georges Cross was well featured and proudly displayed during the World Cup by loyal fans. Tough go of it unfortunately for your countrymen, sad to see an early departure...but happy that Rooney finally got his goal, at least there's a silver lining.
As far as the picture goes, I really like this every day collection of objects that have been presented in such a colorful and well thought out manner. Simple and effective, and probably not something most would realize makes for an intriguing and pleasant image. As Rosemary stated, a very nice eye for detail....but I'm sure glad we can't smell the 'em! :P Have a good one mate. All the best.
Cheers from the Stars and Stripes,

A colourful and graphically composed shot. I might say with my tongue firmly in cheek this is an example of the neo-plasticism of Piet Mondrian!
I think though it is something of a metaphor for England these days - the England flag struggles to fly high and dominate in a country which is, like the US, something of a cultural and ethnic melting pot at this point in history but wasn't it ever thus? After the Roman invasion we had Jutes, Scandinavians, Vikings, Angles, Saxons, Celts, Pict and Normans, not to mention those who came post 1066 until now - ironic that this "indigenous" population has evolved into UKIP voters and their descendants are crap at football too!

A riot of the colors as always on your photos. Simple but very picturesque daily life scene. Amazing composition, I just forgot about personal English flag, so everyday I see the British flag. Special thanks for this post.
